Huddersfield of course was famous for being the birthplace of Rugby League in 1895, but now there was an alternative to the rugby. Interestingly, 1908 is always listed as the founding of Huddersfield Town FC, and the club centenary was celebrated as such in 2008, but the club formed as the Huddersfield Association Football Ground co. in 1907. They didn't start playing any games until the launch of Huddersfield Town AFC in 1908. Huddersfield Town entered the Football League in 1910.
