Drag Race All Stars Trivia Questions

1. This special 'All-Winners' season of "RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars" saw the return of how many queens competing for the prize?

From Quiz
"RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 7

Answer: Eight & 8

While all other "All Stars" seasons saw the return of (generally) non-winners vying for the crown (save for odd exceptions), this was the first instance in which RuPaul invited past winners of regular and "All Stars" seasons back to compete to become the Queen of Queens. With an increased cash payout for the top Queen of the season, drag queens returned to the workroom for the first time, in some cases, in ten years. While some of these queens were newer (with Shea Couleé having won her crown as recently as late 2020) some (like Raja) stretched back into the show's early days and others (like The Vivienne) came from international seasons.

2. How many queens competed in this season of the show?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 6

Answer: Thirteen & 13

Though the last several "All Stars" seasons of the show featured a total of ten returning queens, this sixth season featured the largest competing cast of the bunch with thirteen queens spanning seasons dating all the way back to season 2. Three of the queens also appeared on earlier "All Stars" seasons, making a redemption run for the crown. Notably, this season of the show was filmed during the COVID-19 pandemic, perhaps accounting for the longer run of episodes and more significant size of cast.

3. Although all "All Stars" seasons feature returning queens, how many of this season's contestants previously appeared as contestants on an earlier "All Stars" season?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 5

Answer: Two

Just like in "All Stars 4", Ru chose to bring back two queens that had been seen previously in the poorly-received "All Stars 1" season but unlike that earlier set, the re-returning pair was not previously combined a la Manila Luzon and Latrice Royale. Instead, Jujubee and Alexis Mateo joined a cast of old and new queens to round out a group of ten. Notably, the ten queens this time around were divided by old-school and new-school with five of the queens coming from the show's first three seasons and five coming from seasons 8 through 10.

4. Although all ten queens in this season were returnees, how many competitors were featured in previous "All Stars" seasons?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 4

Answer: Two & 2

Eight queens returned to the workroom in the first episode of this season, but they were soon joined by "All Stars 1" alumni Latrice Royale and Manila Luzon, who joined the competition to round it out to ten girls. After the customary 'Reading is Fundamental' mini-challenge, all ten queens needed to prepare for the traditional All Star Variety Show during which Jasmine Masters and Farrah Moan fell to the bottom of the pile. Trinity the Tuck won the lip sync to Mariah Carey's "Emotions" and sent Jasmine Masters home first-thing, feeling that Farrah had more drive to redeem herself.

5. How many queens participated as contestants in "RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 3"?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 3

Answer: Ten & 10

Although only nine queens re-entered the work room via the main doors as per the tradition of the show, RuPaul ended up surprising the competitors by bringing back season 1 winner Bebe Zahara Benet to give her a shot at all-stardom and a chance to claim her second crown. Bebe had not competed on "RuPaul's Drag Race" since 2009, giving her a nearly-nine year gap between appearances. Her addition rounded out the competitor field to ten.

6. How many queens returned to the show to compete for the place in the Drag Race Hall of Fame?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 2

Answer: Ten & 10

Although twelve queens returned for the first "All Stars" season in 2012, the queens in that season were paired up for most of the challenges throughout. This season, four years later, did away with the pairings and had the queens go head to head with several rule changes to the previous iteration's less-popular formula. That said, the ten queens competing had to deal with some of the most strenuous challenges in the series, many of which focused on establishing their drag brands at any cost. "All Stars 3", in 2018, maintained the ten queen total.

7. How many queens vied for the crown as the first 'All Star' Champion?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 1

Answer: Twelve

The twelve queens found in this special 'All Star' season were all featured in the first four seasons of "RuPaul's Drag Race" and missed out on the crown. These queens ranged from runners-up and Miss Congeniality winners to as low as eleventh-place finishers. While seasons one and two had three queens each, season three had four queens represented and season four only had two. All four past Miss Congeniality winners returned.

8. How many queens returned for the competition this season?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 8

Answer: Twelve & 12

While "All Stars 6" upped the numbers to thirteen, this season brought back twelve competitors reaching as far back as the second "Drag Race" season with no previously-seen All Stars amongst the roster. This season also marked the second instance in which a queen from a non-U.S. season was invited to compete with Jimbo (of "Canada's Drag Race" and "UK vs. The World") joining the dozen; she was second to be a part of an "All Stars" season after The Vivienne the previous year.

9. This season saw the return of which lip sync format/mechanic?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 6

Answer: Lip Sync Assassins

Introduced in "All Stars 5", the Lip Sync Assassin mechanic was introduced to replace the Lip Sync For Your Legacy, wherein the top two queens each week faced off for the chance to eliminated one of their fellow queens. Instead, the single top queen would be brought to the main stage to face off against a past contestant famous for strong lip syncs. If the competing queen won, they'd eliminate one of the bottom queens; if the Lip Sync Assassin won, then the group's vote would decide who was eliminated. This season saw ten such assassins appear on the main stage, some of whom hadn't performed a lip sync on the show since season 2.

10. The second week of competition involved the creation of girl groups. Both teams needed to work with which former "Drag Race" contestant?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 4

Answer: Stacy Layne Matthews

The second challenge of the season involved forming two girl groups-- one of five girls and one of four-- and performing a song on the main stage with former "Drag Race" contestant Stacy Layne Matthews, headlining under the name 'Henny'. This challenge proved to be a significant one for Monet X Change and Valentina, the latter of whom found significant redemption in this episode, ultimately Lip Syncing for Her Legacy to the song "Into You" by Ariana Grande (the artist she was sent home to in season 9). She ended up sending home her close friend Farrah Moan.

11. RuPaul announced that, instead of eliminating the queens herself, who would have the honour of ousting a contestant each week?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 2

Answer: Their fellow competitors

Ru reasoned that because they were all all-stars, she would not be eliminating any queens all season, and she never did. Instead, she would only be rewarding success and allowing the top two queens each week to lipsynch for their legacies with the winner of that showdown taking home a $10,000 tip. The winner would also be responsible for sending one of the bottom two or three queens home for that week because with great power comes great responsibility. Ru would only end up casting a vote in the finale when she would crown the winner.

12. This season, RuPaul added which criteria to the judging expectations?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 1

Answer: Synergy

This meant that, in addition to seeking out the contestants' Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve, and Talent, they all needed to keep the additional requirement of 'Synergy' in mind. It wasn't hard though. As soon as the queens were united in the break room, Ru had them split into teams of two for the remainder of the competition; every week, they would be competing as a pair and would be judged as such. During Lip-Synchs, they would also have the opportunity to tag out their partners to finish the song, but only once per team during the competition.

13. This season's ball episode, seen in episode three, had the queens making outfits with which theme?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 8

Answer: Supermarkets

With ten queens still in the competition, Ru informed the competitors that they would be working away at looks for the 'Supermarket Ball' in their third challenge. This involved three separate looks, all relating to food, with the first two being brought-from-home and the third being made of unconventional supermarket materials, from scratch, in the workroom. Category one was Legen-dairy Queens, category two was Fruity Patootie, and the last one was Supermarket Supermodel Eleganza. The episode was subsequently won by Jessica Wild who also won the lip sync (against Ra'Jah O'Hara), thirty thousand dollars, and the opportunity to send someone home. Mrs. Kasha Davis was eliminated by her choice.

14. In week two, the nine queens had to write and perform their own lyrics to a song made in what style?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 5

Answer: Sappy love song

As three groups of three queens, the contestants spent week two developing lyrics to accompany the track "I'm in Love", a sappy song about celebrity crushes. In those groups of three they also had to develop choreography for their performance, taking to the main stage when all was said and done. Ultimately, Shea Coulee won this week and faced off against Alyssa Edwards, the Lipsync Assassin, on the mainstage to "Neutron Dance" by The Pointer Sisters. Shea ended up winning this and a stacked $20,000 tip. She ended up siding with the group and sent Ongina packing.

15. In a twist to the typical 'Snatch Game' episode, the final eight had to participate in what kind of game show?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 4

Answer: Dating show

The third week of competition brought the queens to the typical staple of the series-- 'Snatch Game'-- but in a twist, the girls had to bring their celebrity impersonations to 'Snatch Game of Love'. Instead of appearing on the panel a la "Match Game", the queens were split into two groups of four, each competing for a celebrity boyfriend in the vein of "The Dating Game". Trinity the Tuck and Manila Luzon took the lead on this task and Manila dominated the Whitney Houston lip sync thereafter, sending Gia Gunn home.

16. How were teams formed during the first episode of the season?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 1

Answer: The queens chose

Ru ended up putting the queens' fates into their own hands, giving them photos of all of their opponents and telling them that if they matched photos, they would be paired off together for the competition. Three pairs were made immediately (Team Shad, Team Rujubee, and Team Brown Flowers) while two teams were made in the second round of voting (Team Yarlexis and Team Latrila). This meant that Team Mandora (Pandora Boxx and Mimi Imfurst) were stuck together, being the only ones unpicked.

17. Which queen quit this season?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 8

Answer: Heidi N. Closet

As the queens prepared for Snatch Game of Love in the fifth episode, tensions continued to rise for Heidi N. Closet as her consistent lack of wins and accusations of alliances with the other queens boiled over. Following the challenge, she and the other girls got into disagreements that ultimately led her to decide to remove herself from the competition, marking her exit as the third queen from the U.S. "All Stars" seasons to do so (after Adore Delano and BenDeLaCreme). As a result, no one was formally eliminated this week and Heidi was considered to have opted out of the Fame Games.

18. Snatch Game, featured in episode two, featured two rounds of the popular "Drag Race" staple. In this episode, whose Judy Garland impersonation was regarded as a masterclass of Snatch Game?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 7

Answer: Jinkx Monsoon

In a twist on the traditional Snatch Game, RuPaul told the queens that they would be performing the classic game show twice, each with different characters. It meant that everyone had to embody varied impersonations and, most of all, make RuPaul laugh. It led to a consistently hilarious Snatch Game won by Trinity the Tuck for her takes on Satan and Leslie Jordan and Jinkx Monsoon for her Natasha Lyonne and Judy Garland (the latter of which was praised by the judges as, likely, the best Snatch Game of all time). Jinkx would go on to win the episode, blocking Shea Couleé with the plunger.

19. What theme was used for this season's fashion ball?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 6

Answer: The colour blue

This season's fashion ball episode came early as twelve queens walked the runway in the second episode, each presenting three separate looks on the main stage. The Blue Ball saw three distinct looks. The first of these, Blue Betta Work, had the queens bring their own garments to represent blue collar workers. The second, Blue Jean Baby, was denim-only, once again having queens don the tough material. The final, which queens had to make in the workroom with assorted blue items, was Blue Ball Bonanza. Ra'Jah O'Hara won this challenge and faced off against Lip Sync Assassin and Season 11 sister Brooke Lynn Hytes to Janet Jackson's "Miss You Much". Both queens won the lip sync but both had the same lipstick, so Jiggly Caliente was sent packing.

20. The fourth episode of the show featured the queens improvising comedy in character as people from what distinctive region?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 4

Answer: New Jersey

The fourth challenge was an improvisation challenge allowing the queens to partner up and pretend to be stereotypical New Jersey characters in a mock reality courtroom show featuring none other than Michelle Visage as the judge. Following a runway themed around padding ('Swerves and Curves: Padded for the Gods'), Manila and Monique both won their second challenge of the competition with Monique winning the lip sync. She ended up sending home fan favourite Latrice Royale over her season 10 friend Monet X Change.

21. Which queen quit the competition, becoming the first to do so in any season?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 2

Answer: Adore Delano

After the first intense critique and elimination, Adore thought on the proceedings and felt that she would be unfit to continue on the show. During Ru's check-in with the girls in week two, Adore decided that the vibes were extra-harsh and believed that Michelle Visage's critiques in particular would be too affecting. Since it was "different from what she thought it would be", Adore decided to leave the show before the maxi-challenge in the second week, believing that her head just wasn't in it to be back in the competition with the personal relationships she'd already built working with many of its stars.

22. The top seven queens performed in a Rusical based on the life and career of which famous woman?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 8

Answer: Joan Crawford

Marking the halfway point of the competition, the queens dove into the season's Rusical, a clear problem challenge for most of the remaining competitors based on their previous season. This being said, once the queens took their roles, recorded their songs, learned their choreography, and hit the main stage, they performed a quality show that the judges claimed was amongst the best the competition has seen. While Kahanna and Jaymes were placed in the bottom, Kandy Muse took the top honours and lip synced against Angeria Paris VanMicheals to the Grace Jones song "I'm Not Perfect (But I'm Perfect for You)". She won a $30,000 tip and sent home Jaymes.

23. This season's ball episode featured a guest appearance from what TV personality, an inspiration for the challenge?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 7

Answer: Vanna White

In episode three, the queens needed to produce three looks to get them through The Realness of Fortune Ball starting with one evoking Vanna White Realness, one themed around a 'Before and After' puzzle, and one, self-made in the workroom, for the Realness of Fortune Eleganza category themed around exotic vacation destinations and their key colours (eg. the White Cliffs of Dover for the colour white). When the queens hit the main stage for the ball, all of them were surprised to see Vanna Whie herself announcing not only the contestants, but their respective categories. The episode's top queens were Jaida Essence Hall and Trinity the Tuck who, subsequently, lip synched to Beyonce's "Green Light" for the power to block. Jaida won, blocking Jinkx Monsoon leading into an acting challenge in episode four.

24. At the end of the fourth week, the Lipsync resulted in a tie and both of the bottom queens were at risk of going home. Who ended up getting eliminated?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 5

Answer: Mayhem Miller

The fourth week of the competition featured an improv challenge in which the queens split into teams to duke it out on a fake tabloid show called 'SheMZ'. Miz Cracker ended up winning after a camouflage-themed runway and faced off against Lipsync Assassin Morgan McMichaels (who previously appeared in season 2 and "All Stars 3"). Both ended up winning the lipsync, causing the uncomfortable situation of a possible double-elimination. Unfortunately, everyone (including Mayhem) nominated to have Mayhem leave the competition, so she did.

25. The fourth week of the competition saw the final seven queens participate in the traditional Snatch Game. What celebrity joined the queens (as themselves) to answer questions for the contestants?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 3

Answer: Kristin Chenoweth

The All Stars Snatch Game was seen by queens as the turning point at which their true mettle could finally be tested, and while some queens took the opportunity to seize their new roles, many flopped, leading RuPaul to opt for a bottom three in this episode. Once again, Bendelacreme led the challenge, this time alongside Shangela (again), and after a double-win lipsyncing to Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl", both queens got the opportunity to send home a queen. They both chose to eliminate Chi Chi DeVayne.

26. For a final design challenge, the top five queens received boxes of fabric and accessories attributed to past "All Stars" winners. Who was not amongst them?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 8

Answer: Alaska

In episode eight, the top five queens each received a box with fabrics inspired by past "All Stars" winners and because she won the previous episode, LaLa Ri got to hand them out. She gave herself Shea Coulee, Alexis received Trinity the Tuck, Jessica received Kylie Sonique Love, Kandy received Monét X Change, and Jimbo received Trixie Mattel. On the mainstage, it may have backfired a bit for LaLa, whose design skills were behind the other girls. Alexis Michele took her first victory of the season, facing off against Nicky Doll to Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots Are Made For Walkin" and winning the lip sync. She subsequently eliminated LaLa, even though LaLa saved her the previous episode.

27. This season featured an acting challenge in which the queens acted as characters based on those featured in which TV series?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 6

Answer: American Horror Story

Most seasons of "RuPaul's Drag Race" feature a dedicated acting challenge, and while the script might not always be to-notch, the queens have to work with what they're given to camp up a comedic take on an existing TV show property. This season's acting challenge focused on "American Horror Story", taking characters from the earlier seasons and replicating them (to an extent) with the queens' personal twists. Kylie Sonique Love's version of Fiona Goode won her the challenge and she performed Christina Aguilera's "Dirrty" against Manila Luzon, winning and sending A'Keria C. Davenport home.

28. 'Snatch Game of Love', this season, saw the return of what frequently-used impersonation?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 5

Answer: Eartha Kitt

'Snatch Game of Love' was on deck for the fifth week and the final six queens had to bring out their best celebrity impersonations for the main challenge featuring guest judges Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman and Tommy Dorfman. This season, impersonations included Lady Gaga, Walter Mercado, Jeffree Star, Ellen DeGeneres, Eartha Kitt, and Flava Flav. Although half of the queens excelled in this challenge, Shea Coulee was given her second win of the season, heading into the Lipsync for her Legacy against Vanessa Vanjie Mateo. At this point in the competition, all other queens were up for elimination though Shea, winning the lipsync, sent home India Ferrah after her fourth time in the bottom.

29. Alyssa Edwards faced critique from her competitors at the end of the third lipsynch when she chose to eliminate a fellow queen based on what criteria?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 2

Answer: Their cumulative performances throughout the competition

After the third maxi-challenge which forced the queens to take on historical roles in a song and dance sequence on the main stage, Alyssa Edwards (as Annie Oakley) and Detox (as Marie Antoinette) lipsynched to Taylor Dayne's "Tell It To My Heart" with the former being declared the victor. Alyssa ultimately chose to eliminate Ginger Minj, who she claimed had coasted through the competition as being 'safe' during previous weeks. This garnered criticism from other queens who, up until that point, had planned to send each other home for performing poorly in each specific week, disregarding previous bad weeks. Detox revealed that she would have sent Katya home. The next week, Alaska chose to send Alyssa Edwards home, having been paired up with her during a drag movie sequel challenge.

30. Where were the queens required to perform pranks on unsuspecting people?

From Quiz "RuPaul's Drag Race" - All Stars 1

Answer: A street

After posing as butch men for a quick photo challenge, the teams of queens needed to work together to prank unsuspecting pedestrians on the side of a busy street. One queen would inform the other queen, via headset, over the course of ten minutes and do pranks for escalating point values, convincing locals with their charisma. Ultimately, Team Shad had the most points and they won the challenge as a result. This sent Teams Latrila and Rujubee to the Lip-Synch and the former went home.
