The core game only contains seven tombs throughout the island setting of "Tomb Raider", but the DLC (and deluxe version of the game) adds another as a bonus. But what "Tomb Raider" game could be without tombs to raid? In this game, tombs aren't completely essential, but navigating them will result in rewards (usually in the form of Treasure Charts) and skill points which can be redeemed for skills at campfires. They're worth the effort.

Shipwrecked on an island east of Japan, the story begins with Lara being captured by an unknown party while her crewmates take stock on the beach. She awakens in a cave and fights to free herself, ultimately emerging from a cave-in on the rocky cliffs surrounding the island's coast. Following the tutorial, Lara will come across a camp, collect her two-way radio, and take shelter from the storm under a ridge, commencing the Coastal Forest stage. The area will allow her to collect both the Makeshift Longbow and, heading into a bunker, the Pry Axe utility item. She will eventually come across several of her crewmates again as they head deeper inland, but the area will end with Lara and Dr. Whitman opening an ancient gate.

Superman?)For those who are feeling brave, try dashing past it to the door in the wall near the ice mountain for a secret, or into the small cavern on the wall opposite the pit for some pickups, but the thing will get VERY angry! My preferred way of picking it off is to stand in the small indented space at the very end of the room. I think it's directly in front of the stairs and shooting with my pistols. The beast will never attack you and will keep its distance!
