From Quiz ""Four Sword Adventures" - Level by Level"

Four Sword Adventures Trivia Questions

1. Which colour can not be found on any of Link's tunics?

From Quiz
"Four Sword Adventures" - The Basics

Answer: Yellow

When Link pulls the Four Sword out of its pedestal in the Four Sword Sanctuary, he releases Vaati, the Wind Sorcerer, and he splits into four different coloured Links. Aside from the red, blue, and purple, the final Link is dressed in the classic green tunic. In multiplayer games, you can choose which colour you want to play as. You also need to use the certain colours to push certain blocks or defeat certain enemies.

2. The first stage is called "Whereabouts of the Wind". At "Lake Hylia", who is the first to talk to you?

From Quiz "Four Sword Adventures" - Level by Level

Answer: Kaepora Gaebora

Link arrives at Hyrule castle after being called upon by Princess Zelda when she fears that Vaati, the wind sorcerer, may escape the sacred seal that she and the six maidens are trying to keep closed. They open up a portal to the Four Sword Santuary, but the evil Shadow Link captures all of the maidens along with Princess Zelda. Link decides to take the portal to pursue Shadow Link, and he pulls out the Four Sword. Little did he know that removing the sword would break the seal, and the wind sorcerer, Vaati, would be released. Kaepora Gaebora is the owl from many previous and following "Legend of Zelda" games. The four Links wind up in a clearing in the middle of the small forest and have to find their way out. This level will give good training for beginners by letting you know the formations, and equipment that will be used throughout the game. You also meet Tingle in this level when you free him from under a rock. Along the way, Tingle will attempt to steal Force Gems so that he can turn into a fairy. As soon as you start the level, you can get basic formation training at the house to the west. You will learn the four formations which can be toggled with the C-stick on the Gamecube controller.

3. How many maidens need to be saved in the game?

From Quiz "Four Sword Adventures" - The Basics

Answer: Six

In the beginning of the game, Vaati captures the six maidens and Zelda, and places them in many different areas of Hyrule. Every three levels, you save one of the different coloured maidens, and they take you to a new area in order to save the next maiden. The maidens (and Zelda) still manage to capture Ganon in the end of the game, and everyone is saved.

4. In the very beginning of "The Cave of No Return", what is needed to see around in the cave?

From Quiz "Four Sword Adventures" - Level by Level

Answer: A Lantern

Much like the Fire Rod, the Lantern can set things on fire. The difference is that the Fire Rod can shoot things whereas the Lantern can only set things directly in front of it on fire. As you make your way through the cave, there are many rats to defeat, keys to use and Force Gems to collect, so passing through the level shouldn't be too difficult. In some locations, you'll come across blocks which match the colours of individual Links. You'll need to press either the X button or the D-pad on the Gamecube controller in order to choose an individual Link to perform a task. When you've chosen an individual Link, you can also toss other Links over chasms by picking them up.

5. What is the name of the wind sorcerer in the game?

From Quiz "Four Sword Adventures" - The Basics

Answer: Vaati

In this game, Vaati is a major antagonist, but there is still someone who is more powerful; Ganondorf. Ganondorf uses the Dark Mirror to create Shadow Link who lures Link into the Four Sword Sanctuary where he takes the Four Sword out of its pedestal and unleashes the wrath of Vaati. In this game, Vaati is a dark figure you face off against in the Palace of the Winds.

6. In "Hyrule Castle", how do you open the castle gate?

From Quiz "Four Sword Adventures" - Level by Level

Answer: You hit a switch

Upon entering this level, Kaepora Gaebora reminds you that you need to be quick because of the harmful enemies that are in the level, including a boss. The boss isn't until the very end of the level, so take your time and collect Force Gems. This way, you don't need to go to the beginning of the level to look for more Force Gems. Along the way, you'll he able to receive help from the Great Fairy, who will remove a barrier from your path. In the end, you face Phantom Ganon. Make sure he doesn't slice you with his sword, and instead of wildly trying to attack him, play a bit of ping-pong with his large orb until he gets hit by it. When he's down, attack him with all you've got and before you know it, you'll have saved the blue maiden.

7. How many Force Gems must you have at the end of each level to break the dark barrier?

From Quiz "Four Sword Adventures" - The Basics

Answer: 2,000

This rule applies for nearly every single level in the entire game. These dark barriers can be found in every level except the final one where you must fight Ganon. Throughout the levels, there are many opportunities to gain these Force Gems since they can be obtained from enemies or tall grass (and occasionally they'll just be lying on the ground). Boss fights are the big Gem-mines. After defeating bosses and certain enemies, large amounts of Force Gems will rain down around the area, and usually a large Force Gem will fall. If you don't have enough Gems by the end of a level, it will transport you back to the beginning, and when you get 2,000 it will transport you back to the end. If you get 2,000 Force Gems, your sword will power up and you'll be able to use a more powerful attack.

8. How many small Force Gems (with a value of 1) are in one large green Force Gem?

From Quiz "Four Sword Adventures" - The Basics

Answer: One Hundred

Force gems come in various amounts, and you can find them in many places throughout the levels. The small Force Gems are most commonly found on the ground or will appear after you defeat a common enemy. The larger Force Gems appear after something important happens, and higher values will appear (usually) after bosses or significant events. There are some huge Force Gems worth up to one thousand Force Gems, but they are extremely rare to come across.

9. In "Village of the New Maiden", you learn to use Moon Gates. What is needed to activate a Moon Gate?

From Quiz "Four Sword Adventures" - Level by Level

Answer: Moon Pearl & A Moon Pearl

By using Moon Pearls, you can open Moon Gates which can take you to the Dark World. Throughout the town, you need to activate the gates, use Pegasus Boots, and jump with Roc's Feathers. Eventually, you'll arrive at the Seekers Guild where you'll be asked to find the other members who're scattered around town and find out what clues they've found. In the end, their clues will point to the maidens who protected the shrine, and you'll be given a shovel to use near the house of pots in the south-eastern part of the village. Keep going through the level, and eventually, you'll leave the village and fight Shadow Link.

10. In the "Eastern Temple" level, what is the name of the boss?

From Quiz "Four Sword Adventures" - Level by Level

Answer: Stone Arrghus

When you start this temple, there's no other choice than north, but once you get to the room with the gap, head west first. When you're done with the west, then head to the annoying labyrinth to the east. Basically, you just keep heading through rooms and slashing moss and leaves off of the walls until you find the Lantern at the very end so that you can open the door across the gap. Find the big key, and head into the room with the Force Gem-stealing Wizrobes, and defeat them. When you defeat them, open the big chest and obtain one thousand Force Gems. The next room holds the boss. Make sure to fall into the pits to retrieve the boomerang, then use it on the rocks that orbit the boss's body. Once you slice through all of them, work on the main boss. Once he's dead, you can free the yellow maiden.

11. How many different formations can your Links be in?

From Quiz "Four Sword Adventures" - The Basics

Answer: Four & 4

By using the C-stick or the L button, you can organize your Links by placing them in one of four formations. Your Links can move in a vertical line, a horizontal line, a box, or a cross. By using these formations effectively, you will be able to defeat different enemies much faster, and you will be able to complete more puzzles and tasks. To revert the Links to their original state (where the Links follow the green Link in an orderly fashion), you can press the X button.

12. After defeating the boss in the "Eastern Temple", the second maiden takes us to Death Mountain to the north. In the "Death Mountain Foothills", you can find the Bombos Medallion. What does it do?

From Quiz "Four Sword Adventures" - Level by Level

Answer: Destroys many enemies

When you toss a Bombos Medallion into a large group of enemies, they'll all perish. In "Death Mountain Foothills", you need to make your way through caves and hoards of enemies to reach the top of the level. Along the way, you'll need to fight many Moblins, some of which use bows and arrows as well. Some may be hiding under bushes, but they'll spring up when you get close. You'll eventually get your first Magic Hammers in the game which can pound rocks into dust. There's also the area known as Hebra's Hill which is just past the Hinoxes. To reach the top, just keep going straight. After a short battle, you're at the end of the level.

13. What happens when you press the Z button?

From Quiz "Four Sword Adventures" - The Basics

Answer: You can close the Game Boy Advance window

The Game Boy Advance window and the Z button are only used when you are playing the game with a Gamecube controller. To get into the box formation, you can use the C-stick or the L button. To make your teammates inactive, press the X button while you aren't in formation, then press R once to pick Link up and again to throw him. This can also be used for different obstacles or items. Press the A button to use an equipped item.

14. In the second stage of Death Mountain, "The Mountain Path", what race/species can be found?

From Quiz "Four Sword Adventures" - Level by Level

Answer: Goron & Gorons

The Gorons are still on their native soil on Death Mountain, only this time you see them, they're in peril again. The mountain is on fire and you need to help them extinguish the flames along the way. In the caves you can find water jugs to put out the fires as you go along. You pick them up with the R button and throw them like you would with another Link. Another new item is the Oil Jug. When these are thrown, they explode with many flames. You need to use this to light fuses to giant bombs early in the level. At the top of the path, you'll need to fight a boss named the Helmaroc King. First, bomb the bird into one of the large mounds in the arena, then take one of the magic hammers into the mound and hit its head. If it lands on the ground outside of one of the mounds, use your sword. Keep repeating this until you've defeated it.

15. What is the name of the object that will give you an extra life?

From Quiz "Four Sword Adventures" - The Basics

Answer: Force Fairy

Force Fairies can be found at the end of every level, but occasionally, one or two might be found in random places throughout each level. These Fairies will replenish your life if you take too much damage, and once you are rejuvenated, you won't need to start back at the beginning of the level. These useful creatures are particularly good in the later levels.

16. How many floors are in "The Tower of Flames"?

From Quiz "Four Sword Adventures" - Level by Level

Answer: Eight

The "Tower of Flames" begins where the "Mountain Path" left off. The whole level is filled to the brim with lava, ash, and statues which shoot flames. Once you avoid all of that, you'll need to fight Shadow Link a couple of times. Just keep using the strategy that has been used to defeat him throughout the game and you'll pass by him easily. At the penultimate floor, you'll fight the bosses: the Dodongos. They have a tough outer shell, but you can damage them on the insides. When they breathe in and open their mouths, through a bomb inside and they'll explode. After a few bombs each, they'll be done. After, you'll need to talk to Kaepora Gaebora who mentions that the darkness at Hyrule Castle has returned, and you can save the green maiden.

17. Who is the final boss in the game?

From Quiz "Four Sword Adventures" - The Basics

Answer: Ganon

Ganon is the boss in many of the "Legend of Zelda" games. In this game, you fight Ganon after rescuing Princess Zelda in the final level. To defeat Ganon, you need to sword him until Zelda starts forming a large ball of light. To finish him off, you need to shoot a light arrow at him. After this, Link returns the Four Sword to its pedestal and once again, everyone in Hyrule is safe.

18. In "Infiltration of Hyrule Castle", what part of the castle is the boss in?

From Quiz "Four Sword Adventures" - Level by Level

Answer: The basement

This level's a bit trickier. You need to head around Hyrule Castle while avoiding the spotlights that will be looking out for you. If you're caught, you're thrown into jail, and you're forced to begin again. When you finally get inside, you'll need to head into the dark basement. Once you find the bow and arrows, you'll be able to journey deeper into the dungeons until you're outside of the castle again. Retrieve the key and use it to find the Lantern. After this, you'll fight Jalhalla the Poe again. Light the torches around the room, then sword him. After this, he'll swallow you so that you can get a shot at the little guy inside of him. Sword this guy nine times and Jalhalla is defeated. You'll be able to save the white maiden.

19. The fifth area is known as "The Dark World". What were "The Lost Woods" once called?

From Quiz "Four Sword Adventures" - Level by Level

Answer: The Forest of Light & Forest of Light

The fourth maiden explains that the area was once known as The Forest of Light, but the darkness consumed the forest. To put it quite simply, the level is a large annoying maze. Along the way, you'll run into some friendly Deku Scrubs (who seem to like Ganon a fair bit). You'll also need to pick up a Roc's Feather in order to get a Moon Pearl. After a fair bit of moving around, you'll finally pick up a Lantern which can get rid of those annoying tree stumps blocking everything remotely interesting on the left side of the forest. Soon you'll have to run errands, search for underground passages and meet up with the Great Fairy who can upgrade your shovel. After a short fiasco with giant bombs and Shadow Link, you'll reach the barrier.

20. In "Kakariko Village", what is not an item that Link will use?

From Quiz "Four Sword Adventures" - Level by Level

Answer: Pegasus Boots

As soon as you arrive at Kakariko Village, you can see that the town is on fire. Kaepora informs you that the town is going mad, and you need to find a way to save it. In order to advance to the area to the north, you need to sword, then pick up any offenders and throw them into the small prison. There should be ten of them around town. In the north end, you can go through a fire maze in order to pick up the Fire Rod, and you can light some torches even further north to make it rain. If you're still running low on Force Gems at this point, you can play a fun little game by feeding ten fish to a Zora just north of where you can find the bombs in the village. After a ride down a raging river to the east, you can fight for the second royal jewel. This time, a Knight of Hyrule will give you the green jewel to add to the collection, and you can carry on with the quest.

21. In "Temple of Darkness", how many copies of himself does Ganon make?

From Quiz "Four Sword Adventures" - Level by Level

Answer: Three

In this level, you need to find your way through a castle that's almost as annoying as the Lost Woods. By hitting switches, raising and lowering blocks, and basically fumbling through the dark, you'll make your way through the wide halls and narrow paths of the "Temple of Darkness". In the deepest dungeon of the temple, you'll find Phantom Ganon yet again, only this time, he's made copies of himself, and they can hurt you. To win this battle, just do the same things that you did the first time. The four Ganons will shoot orbs of energy at you, and the one true Ganon's will be a different coloured orb from the rest. Just keep hitting the orbs back at him until he's down on the ground, then you can sword him. At the end of the battle, the fifth maiden is yours to retrieve, but the Dark Mirror, which everyone assumed would be found, was stolen.

22. After "The Temple of Darkness", Link must continue on to the "Desert of Doubt". In "The Desert of Doubt", what tribe lives in the first village?

From Quiz "Four Sword Adventures" - Level by Level

Answer: Gerudo & The Gerudos & The Gerudo Tribe

The Gerudos are one segment of the level away from the starting point, and when you enter their village, they tell you to make yourself at home. You can enter the huts and open chests to find a few measly Force Gems, but you'll soon need to continue north to reach the pyramid. Immediately after leaving the village, Leevers and other enemies will attack you, and you'll be in a sandstorm. If you take a wrong path in the dusty dunes, you'll return to the south entrance of Gerudo Village. In every area of the windy desert, you must oppose the wind by running into the direction that the sand is blowing. Elsewise, you'll be tossed back to the beginning. After navigating a bit, you'll find the Zuni Tribe at an oasis, and you'll have to go into some more desert. After some intense wandering, you'll fight the third Big Dark Stalfos, and you'll be able to earn the red royal jewel.

23. In the "Desert Temple", what weapon does Shadow Link use?

From Quiz "Four Sword Adventures" - Level by Level

Answer: Megaton Hammer

The Desert Temple contains many new enemies and many old weapons. In the beginning of the level, there are many occasions where you can earn many Force Gems just by pounding around in the sand. After a bit, you'll pick up a bow, and start shooting Eyegores. This is another great opportunity to gain Force Gems. By defeating one Eyegore, you'll earn 100 Force Gems. There's one room with at least eight of these creatures! Along the way, you'll need to light torches with arrows (Ha! The two things your parents told you never to play with: Fire and Sharp Objects. :p) until you finally emerge from the temple. Re-enter the temple again a little later in the level and you'll fight a Gohma and four Shadow Links. After that, you'll arrive at the front door of the Pyramid.

24. In the "Pyramid" level, what colour is the maiden that you save in the end?

From Quiz "Four Sword Adventures" - Level by Level

Answer: Purple

The Pyramid starts with a series of small dungeons, rooms, and chambers connected by a series of underground areas ventured by using the smaller screen. After traveling through these, you'll arrive at a large, somewhat circular room. You'll need to use slingshots, boots, Lanterns, and bombs to get through all of them. Use a Moon Pearl and a pair of upgraded Pegasus Boots, and make your way through more dungeons to reach the Big Moldorm; a common boss in many Zelda games. All you need to do is use the correctly coloured Link to attack its tail. After a few hits, Moldorm will split into two Moldorms, and the fight will continue. After the fight, you'll enter the room which is supposed to contain the magic trident, but it's been stolen. You save the sixth maiden and continue the quest to find Zelda, who's trapped in the frozen lands of Hyrule.

25. The seventh stage is "Frozen Hyrule". In "Frozen Hyrule", what colour is the royal jewel that you must obtain?

From Quiz "Four Sword Adventures" - Level by Level

Answer: Purple

In the beginning of the level, the maidens inform Link that the Tower of Winds has vanished, so you need to place the four royal jewels at a certain spot to make it reappear. Start by journeying to the east end of the level to search for the Fire Rod; perhaps the most important object in this level. You can use the fire rod to melt the frozen force gems, break down walls of snow, and even melt the rolling snowballs into a slushie. Once you retrieve it, take the west path to get the Moon Pearl, which will allow you to enter the Moon Gate up the north path. Eventually, you'll come across Manhandla on Ice, and like before, you must attack its claws with the correctly-coloured Link in order to defeat it. After this battle, you'll fight the Big Dark Stalfos for the final royal jewel.

26. The eight and final location is the "Realm of the Heavens". In "The Realm of the Heavens", how many Level 2 Bombs are needed to defeat the King Dodongo?

From Quiz "Four Sword Adventures" - Level by Level

Answer: Three

It's the beginning of the end of "Four Sword Adventures", and to end it, you'll be fighting in the clouds. This level contains many short battles with Chief Soldiers, Manhandla, and Dodongos; all of which you've seen in previous levels of the game. At some points of the level, you'll face strong winds. You can easily face these winds head on, but you can also hit switches to turn off the wind for a short period of time. At other times, you may come across certain paths that are green, red, blue, and purple. By now we should know that those are the four 'official' colours of the game. All you need to do to cross these paths is use the correct Link at the correct time before it changes colour or else you'll fall through. At one point you may need to use Pegasus Boots to cross these. At the end of the level, you'll fight the two Dodongos, and when you defeat them, chests will appear containing the Level 2 Bombs, and the King Dodongo will come out. Use the same strategy and he's beaten.

27. In "The Dark Cloud", what do you need to use to detect spikes on the purple paths?

From Quiz "Four Sword Adventures" - Level by Level

Answer: Megaton Hammer

By pounding the Megaton Hammer, the spikes will rise. Using a charged attack gives great results since you could spend more than half of the time in this level navigating through this minefield of spikes. The level begins weaving you through clouds and castles until you finally arrive at the spikes. After these, you'll end up at the Shadow Link. Not only that, but after you kill the first one, four more appear, and then four more after that! Princess Zelda comes along and creates a barrier, thus preventing any more Shadow Links from regenerating. After this, you can claim the final treasure and continue on to the final level, "The Palace of Winds".

28. Which enemy can not be fought in "The Palace of Winds"?

From Quiz "Four Sword Adventures" - Level by Level

Answer: Manhandla

After Twenty-three levels, we're finally here; "The Palace of Winds". When you enter, keep going north until you reach a large room with stairs. In here, you can have a collection of Megaton Hammers, Bows, Pegasus Boots, and Boomerangs at your disposal. You need to go off into the tributaries of this room and collect four Moon Pearls to enter the room to the north. After that, it's a matter of using the correct Level two items to make your way to the final barrier. After the barrier, you fight Vaati. Vaati starts by using a tornado against you, and using timing and aim, you must throw a bomb at him. After three bombs, he'll switch to Plan B and shoot some orbs in every-which direction. At this point, fall into the central hole and blast back up into the air, sword-smashing Vaati on the way down. He'll decide to go down as well, and you can sword him there. After repeating this two more times, he should be dead. Everything is all happy and such until Zelda and Link realize the palace is crumbling to pieces, so they flee for their lives.
