Long John Silver appeared in the book 'Treasure Island' by Robert Louis Stevenson. British actor, Robert Newton, played the character in a (1950) Disney adventure film and in a (1954) movie called 'Long John Silver'. Byron Haskin directed both movies.

In the movie 'Muppet Treasure Island' (1996) Kermit the Frog played Captain Smollett while Miss Piggy portrayed Benjamina Gunn. Tim Curry played Long John Silver.
