Answer: Doctor Who

"Doctor Who" first aired on November 23, 1963 and starred William Hartnell as the Doctor. The show's about an alien known only as the Doctor, who traveled through time and space in his time machine (called the TARDIS), almost always with at least one companion. "Doctor Who" continued to air until December 1989, when it was cancelled due to low ratings.

A made-for-TV movie was made in 1996, which starred Paul McGann as the Doctor. This was intended as a back-door pilot to revive the series, but the plans fail through.

In 2005, a successful attempt was made to revive the series. This new series began airing in April and starred Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor.
