Matt Hardy vowed revenge on Montel Vontavious Porter after Montel put Matt Hardy out of commission with a knee injury. Matt Hardy wanted to prove that he is better than Montel Vontavious Porter by defeating him at "Backlash" 2008 and become the new WWE United States Champion. Matt Hardy defeated Montel Vontavious Porter after a "Twist of Fate" to become the new WWE United States Champion.

This is the first time in Matt Hardy's career that he won the WWE United States Championship. A few nights later on "Smackdown", Matt Hardy defended the WWE United States Championship in a rematch against Montel Vontavious Porter and defeated him again after the "Twist of Fate". Matt Hardy said in an interview that he finally defeated Montel Vontavious Porter and that Matt Hardy is the better man.

Bam Neely is the bodyguard of Chavo Guerrero on the "ECW" brand. Bam Neely use to wrestle in "OVW" as Justin "The Ox" LaRouche. Kane defeated Chavo Guerrero at "Backlash" 2008 to retain the ECW World Heavyweight Championship after a "Chokeslam". Bam Neely got involved in this match, but it wasn't enough to help Chavo Guerrero become the winner of the match.

Big Show won this match by pinning The Great Khali after the "Show Stopper". On "Smackdown" a few days later, it was Mark Henry going one on one with Nunzio. Nunzio called for some help and Big Show came to his aide. Mark Henry won the match after the "World's Strongest Slam". Big Show then stated that Mark Henry should fight someone that is his own size.

Chris Jericho was the WWE Intercontinental Champion during "Backlash" 2008, but was scheduled to be the referee of the Batista vs. Shawn Michaels Match. Shawn Michaels defeated Batista after the "Sweet Chin Music". During the match, Batista went for a "Batista Bomb" on Shawn Michaels, but Shawn Michaels countered and injured his knee. On "Raw" the next night, Chris Jericho had Shawn Michaels as his guest on "The Highlight Reel" and Chris Jericho said that Shawn Michaels was faking his injury just to get a victory. Shawn Michaels called Chris Jericho a liar and said that he is actually injured.

In this match, we've seen many finishing moves being used on each other. First, Mickie James hit Beth Phoenix with a "Feline DDT". Then, Melina gave Mickie James the "Cheerleading Leg Drop". Next, Michelle McCool gave Melina the "Mafia Kick". Then, Jillian Hall gave Michelle McCool the "Jillian Elbow Drop". Next, Kelly Kelly gave Jillian Hall the "Leg Drop Facebuster".

Then, Victoria gave Kelly Kelly the "Widow's Peak". Next, Maria gave Victoria the "Bulldog". Then, Layla gave Maria the "Facebuster". Next, Cherry gave Layla a "Facecrusher Bulldog".

Then, Natalya gave Cherry the "Shoulder Tackle". Next, Ashley gave Natalya the "Starstruck". Finally, Beth Phoenix gave Ashley the "Glamazon Bomb" to pick up the victory for her team.

Undertaker won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at "Wrestlemania 24" against Edge. In a rematch at "Backlash" 2008, it was Undertaker defeating Edge to retain the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Undertaker made Edge submit to "The Gogoplata". "The Gogoplata" is a submission move used in mixed martial arts and is a deadly submission move that will make you get choked out. On "Smackdown" a few nights later, Undertaker was stripped of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship due to his deadly submission move.

The WWE World Heavyweight Championship was vacated and it was announced that the next week on "Smackdown", there will be a one night only tournament and the winner will face Undertaker for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at "Judgment Day" 2008. Edge won that tournament and the winner of the Undertaker vs. Edge Match at "Judgment Day" 2008 will be the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

It was announced on "Raw" the night after "Wrestlemania 24", that Randy Orton will defend the WWE Champion against John "Bradshaw" Layfield. Then, John Cena and Triple H both wanted to be in the match. First, Triple H qualified to be in the match after defeating John "Bradshaw" Layfield and Randy Orton in a Handicap Match by pinned Randy Orton after a "Pedigree".

Then, John Cena qualified by defeating Triple H and John "Bradshaw" Layfield in a Handicap Match by pinning John "Bradshaw" Layfield after an "RKO" by Randy Orton.

The match was then made into a Fatal Four Way Match between Triple H vs. John Cena vs. John "Bradshaw" Layfield vs. Randy Orton. The match was later changed into a Fatal Four Way Elimination Match on the "Raw" before "Backlash" 2008.

First, John "Bradshaw" Layfield was eliminated by John Cena via submission after the "STFU". Next, John Cena was eliminated by Randy Orton via pinfall after "The Punt Kick". Finally, Triple H eliminated Randy Orton via pinfall after the "Pedigree". Triple H became the new WWE Champion for the twelfth time in his career.

It was announced the next night on "Raw", that Triple H will defend the WWE Championship against Randy Orton in a Steel Cage Match at "Judgment Day" 2008.
