Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Catherine Bach (as Daisy Duke)

Answer: Jessica Simpson

Catherine Bach portrayed the feisty Daisy Duke in "The Dukes of Hazzard," which aired from 1979 until 1985, plus two made-for-TV reunion movies in 1997 and 2000. As the cousin of the Bo and Luke Duke, she often helped them get out of (and sometimes into) trouble.

The role was reprised by Jessica Simpson in the 2005 film of the same name.
2. Jack Webb (as Joe Friday)

Answer: Dan Aykroyd

Jack Webb (1920-1982) played the role of Sgt Joe Friday with the Los Angeles Police Department in the "Dragnet" franchise, which he also created. "Dragnet" began as a radio show in 1949 (until 1957), but made the jump to television in 1951, with its first run lasting until 1959. The show also had a revival run from 1967-70, with a third in the planning stages in 1982 when Webb died suddenly from a heart attack.

Prior to Dan Aykroyd's take on the character of Sgt Joe Friday in the 1987 film, Webb had starred in a 1954 theatrical adaptation, and a 1969 made-for-TV film. The 1987 film was a comedic twist on the normally strait-laced police procedural, with Tom Hanks providing the antics alongside Aykroyd's straight-laced character.
3. Diana Rigg (as Emma Peel)

Answer: Uma Thurman

"The Avengers" ran from 1961 to 1969 and starred Patrick Macnee as secret agent John Steed. He had various assistants/partners through those years, including Emma Peel, played by Diana Rigg from 1965 until 1968.

When the show was made into a spy comedy movie in 1998, Ralph Fiennes took the role of John Steed, while Uma Thurman played the part of Emma Peel.
4. George Peppard (as Colonel John 'Hannibal' Smith)

Answer: Liam Neeson

"If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... the A-Team."

George Peppard led his team of soldiers of fortune for five seasons from 1983 until 1987, along with Dirk Benedict (1st Lt. Templeton 'Face(man)' Peck), Dwight Schultz (Captain H.M. "Howling Mad" Murdock) and Mr. T (Sergeant First Class Bosco Albert "B. A." (Bad Attitude) Baracus).

The team was recreated for the 2010 film with Liam Neeson as Smith, Bradley Cooper as Templeton, Sharlto Copley as Murdock, and Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson as Baracus.
5. Elizabeth Montgomery (as Samantha Stephens)

Answer: Nicole Kidman

"Bewitched" ran for eight seasons from 1964 to 1972 with Elizabeth Montgomery in the role of Samantha Stephens, a witch who marries an ordinary man and must live life as an 'ordinary' housewife.

Now, the 2005 film starring Nicole Kidman was a bit of a different take. Rather than taking the same scenario as the series and making it for the big screen, the producers went with a more meta approach. In the movie, Will Ferrell plays an actor who is cast as Samantha's husband Darrin in a remake of "Bewitched," and he must find the perfect actress to take on the role of Samantha Stephens. He finds Nicole Kidman's character, who is actually named Isabel Bigelow and is an actual witch, to play the part of Samantha in the remake.
6. Don Adams (as Maxwell Smart)

Answer: Steve Carell

Don Adams played the hapless Agent 86 in the hilarious spy spoof "Get Smart" for five seasons from 1965 until 1970. As Mel Brooks said when asked about his parody methods, "Do what they did except just stretch it half an inch." (source: Wall Street Journal)

The 2008 film of the same name starred Steve Carell in the role of Maxwell Smart and he carried off the strait-faced gags quite well, in my opinion.

"Missed it by that much."
7. Carolyn Jones (as Morticia Addams)

Answer: Anjelica Huston

"The Addams Family" has had a few television runs, but it was in the first of these (1964 to 1966) that had Carolyn Jones in the role of Morticia Addams (née Frump). Subsequent actresses on TV included Janet Waldo (animated series in 1973), Nancy Linari (animated series in 1992-93), and Ellie Harvie (in "The New Addams Family" (1998-99)).

It was in 1991 and again in 1993, however, that Anjelica Huston took on the role of Morticia Addams in "The Addams Family" and "Addams Family Values," respectively.
8. William Shatner (as Captain James T. Kirk)

Answer: Chris Pine

The original series of "Star Trek" lasted a mere three seasons, running from 1966 to 1969, but it proved to be the launch of a massive franchise. William Shatner played the role of Captain Kirk in the original series and voiced him in "Star Trek: The Animated Series" (1973-74), then followed that up with seven feature films.

But when they rebooted the film franchise in 2009 with an alternative universe, it was Chris Pine who took on the iconic role.
9. Florence Henderson (as Carol Brady)

Answer: Shelley Long

"The Brady Bunch" sitcom aired from 1969 until 1974, featuring Florence Henderson as Carol Brady and Robert Reed as husband Mike, along with their blended family of six children. And don't forget their housekeeper Alice Nelson (played by Anne B. Davis).

In addition to multiple spin-off series, the show was made into two feature films, "The Brady Bunch Movie" (1995) and "A Very Brady Sequel" (1996), plus a made-for-TV movie in 2002 entitled "The Brady Bunch in the White House." Shelley Long took on the role of Carol, while Gary Cole played the part of Mike.
10. David Janssen (as Dr. Richard Kimble)

Answer: Harrison Ford

Wrongfully convicted of the murder of his wife, Dr. Richard Kimble (David Janssen) spent four seasons between 1963 and 1967 evading authorities and trying to find the one-armed man responsible for his wife's death.

What took Janssen four years to accomplish, Harrison Ford managed in just 130 minutes in the 1993 film of the same name. In the movie, however, the one-armed-man was doing the bidding of someone else...
