Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Friend of Casper

Answer: Wendy

Wendy goes to live with her aunties in a haunted forest after being left on their doorstep as a baby. While they try to teach her black magic, Wendy uses her powers for good, much to their frustration. Casper the Friendly Ghost has a similar character flaw, and he and Wendy do their best to cast good spells on those they meet.
2. The Sword in the Stone

Answer: Madam Mim

"The magnificent, marvellous, mad Madam Mim" is the main antagonist this 1963 animated Disney feature film. If you're going to take on Merlin the magician in King Arthur's court then you have better be tough, devious and contain one heck of a mean streak. Mim is all that but she is also overconfident and fails to give Merlin his proper due and it, ultimately, leads to her undoing.
3. DuckTales

Answer: Magica De Spell

She ambitious! She's seductive! She's downright nasty. She desperately wants Uncle Scrooge McDuck's Number One Dime, and spends her life casting spells and slipping people potions to gain her evil ends. Introduced in 1961, she appeared in the form of a black shadow with red glowing eyes in "The Beagle Birthday Massacre!". Later, she took the form of an American Peking Duck, webbed feet and all.

At least that slows her up on land.
4. Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Answer: Willow

Willow Danielle Rosenberg. Respected academic, shy computer nerd, vital member of the "Scoobie Gang" and best friend to the Slayer. Oh, I forgot to mention, the most powerful witch in the world, so best not to peeve her off. In trying to re-ensoul the vampire Angel she tapped into a well of considerable power and learnt how to harness it quickly.

While she is one of the good guys she did, at one time, try to destroy the whole world but, in her defence, it was only so that she could relieve everybody's suffering. We won't hold that against her. "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" premiered on television in 1997 and ran for seven seasons.
5. The Little Mermaid

Answer: Ursula

Ursula is a cecaelia - similar to merfolk but, instead of being half fish, she is half octopus - and she is bound to the sea. She is darkest of the dark in "The Little Mermaid", Disney's 1989 animated feature and she has set her sights on ruling the kingdom beneath the waves. Massively ambitious, she was kicked out of Atlantica, where she had a life of "luxury and feasts" and now she wants revenge.

She is seeking to harness the power of King Triton's trident to achieve this and embroils Ariel, the King's daughter, in her plot.
6. Game of Thrones

Answer: Melisandre

Melisandre's favourite saying is "The night is dark and full of terrors" and she certainly can be one of them. Often called "The Red Woman" she first appears in season two of "Game of Thrones" (2012) where seeks to influence Stannis Baratheon to take the Iron Throne. When Stannis is killed, she revives Jon Snow so that he could fulfill his prophecy and served as his advisor. Following the "Battle of Winterfell" she walks away into the snow, removes her necklace and allows her 400 years overtake, dying of old age.
7. World Wrestling Entertainment

Answer: The Wicked Witch

A two-time Women's Champion, Lexi Kaufman has numerous nicknames, including The Goddess, Five Feet of Fury and Little Miss Bliss (a reference to her diminutive stature of 1.55m - 5"1"). She debuted in Florida in June 2015 and won the WWE Mixed Tag Team Championship in November that year. Suffering from an eating disorder, she adopted a weightlifting and exercise routine, and started eating a healthy diet with the help of personal trainers.
8. Spell-caster in Id

Answer: Wiz

The Wizard of Id has to contend with a tyrannical and not terribly clever King, in a kingdom that mixes modern conveniences with ancient technology. The Wizard, aka Wiz, tries not to be bullied by his wife, while endeavouring to please the King with incantations that regularly go awry. Rodney is a bumbling (fraidy-cat) knight, who is in love with the fair maiden, Gwen.
9. The Twelve

Answer: The Black Widow

Get that image of Scarlett Johansen out of your mind! This is the other "Black Widow" in the Marvel universe. She first appeared in "Mystic Comics #4" (1940) as a young lady named Claire Voyant, who is murdered and sent to Hell. Satan, however, has other plans and returns her to Earth, imbues her with powers (she can kill with a single touch) and sends her reeling on a path toward vengeance.

Whilst her appearances during this decade were few and far between, she was revived by Marvel in 2007 as a member of "The Twelve" and now she also has the powers of flight and super strength.
10. The "Harry Potter" Series

Answer: Bellatrix LeStrange

Forget Voldemort, the most delicious of the villains in the "Harry Potter" series of stories is Bellatrix. A pure blood British witch who graduated from Hogwarts, immediately became a "Death Eater" and boasts about being the most loyal of the Dark Lord's servants. Bellatrix is beautiful, she is fearsome and sadistic and she is totally bonkers (mad).

A devastating combination if ever there was one. Hats off to Helena Bonham Carter who brings to life this vicious concoction on the silver screen with a maniacal glee.
