Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Did Hulk Hogan hold more than three WWF and WWE World Championships belts in his career?

Answer: yes

The first one he held in 1984 (after his win over the Iron Sheik) was green, with round, rectangular gold plates horizontally layered on the straps. The second one was the one used in the first three "Wrestlemanias." The third version was the famous winged eagle one. The fourth one is now WWE Championship Belt on "Smackdown!" There were others too.
2. What was the event that Ric Flair lost his fifth NWA World Championship to Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat?

Answer: The Chi-Town Rumble

Ric Flair lost the NWA Championship to Steamboat on February 20, 1989, at the "Chi-Town Rumble" in a very good match.
3. Who is the only man to hold the WWF Championship and not be officially listed as a man who held the title?

Answer: Antonio Inoki

Antonio Inoki defeated Bob Backlund on November 30, 1979 in Japan. Inoki's only title defense was his last one as Bob Backlund pinned him on December 6, 1979, to get back the championship and he pinned Inoki in front of Inoki's hometown fans. The change was never recognized in the United States.
4. This man was convicted for steroid distribution in the WWF on June 27, 1991.

Answer: Dr. George Zahorian

On June 27, 1991, Dr. George Zahorian, who served as a ringside physician for WWF tapings and other events in Pennsylvania, was convicted on twelve counts of selling anabolic steriods to four pro wrestlers and a weightlifter. The federal government proceeds with a full scale investigation of the WWF. Dr. Zahorian was sentenced to three years in prison.
5. Which boxing champion refereed the match between Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage on "Saturday's Main Event" on February 23, 1990?

Answer: Buster Douglas

Buster Douglas refereed the match between Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage and even knocked Savage out in an argument after the match (familiar ending)! Mike Tyson was originally supposed to referee the match, but Douglas took his place after upsetting Tyson for the Heavyweight Boxing Championship in Tokyo. Tyson would referee a bigger match in 1998 and we all know, or at least some of us do, that it was a bigger match than this one.
6. Hulk Hogan was trained by Antonio Inoki in 1971.

Answer: False

A man named Hiro Matsuda trained the legendary Hulkster in 1971. Matsuda took advantage of the young Terry Bollea in his first lesson and broke Hogan's leg!
7. This man turned on Bruno Sammartino in a tag match, thus prompting a feud, in which Bruno would defeat him, that was the most bitter to date in the WWWF.

Answer: Bill Watts

Bill Watts was the man that turned against Bruno Sammartino in a tag match. The former friends battled it out in front of 19,101 fans at Madison Square Garden on February 22, 1965.
8. Buddy Rogers did not win the WWWF World Championship in a tournament in Rio Di Jinero, Brazil.

Answer: True

This is true. It is widely believed that Rogers' victory in the finals of a tournament over Antonino Rocca was a sham - despite its listing in official WWWF records. Promoters Vince McMahon, Sr. and Toots Mondt had a parting of ways with the NWA and did not recognize Lou Thesz' title victory over Buddy Rogers in Toronto in February, 1963.

They wanted their own champion and, appropriatly, listed Rogers' title victory as April Fools' Day.
9. This tag team was the first WWWF World Tag Team Champions.

Answer: Luke Graham and Tarzan Tyler

Luke Graham and Tarzan Tyler defeated The Bruiser and The Sheik in a tournament final to become the first WWWF World Tag Team Champions. The Mongols had left the company in early 1971, and took the International Tag Team Championships with them. Graham and Tyler beat The Mongols in November 1971, to become the undisputed champions.
10. How did "Superstar" Billy Graham pin Bruno Sammartino for the WWWF World Championship?

Answer: Feet on the ropes

"Superstar" Graham places his feet on the ropes to take the WWWF World Championship from Bruno Sammartino in the Baltimore Civic Center on April 30, 1977. His reign would last ten months, the longest a heel has ever held the championship.
