On May 5, 2007, Kofi took on Shelton Benjamin in Greenville, South Carolina in a Dark Match and defeated him after "The Cool Runnings". On May 6, 2007, he defeated Val Venis in a Dark Match in Roanoke, Virginia after he pinned Val Venis with "The Cool Runnings".
