Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Head of the class: All based amble door

Answer: Albus Dumbledore

Professor Dumbledore was the headmaster of Hogwarts until his death at the end of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince". However, most of his backstory was revealed in the 7th and final book: He was born and grew up in Godric's Hollow, and had two siblings, Aberforth and Ariana.

After he graduated from Hogwarts, he was forced to stay at home to look after his siblings due to his mother's death and father's incarceration in Azkaban. Soon he met Gellert Grindelwald, with whom he developed a close friendship; they later had a falling out after a duel in which Ariana was killed. Due to his guilt from the duel, he felt he was not to be trusted with power and thus did not become Minister of Magic despite being offered the position many times.
2. History buff: Both hill the backs hat

Answer: Bathilda Bagshot

Bathilda Bagshot was the author of "A History of Magic", and lived in Godric's Hollow. She lived near the Dumbledores and was the aunt of Gellert Grindelwald. After Dumbledore died, Rita Skeeter interviewed her for her book, "The Life And Lies Of Albus Dumbledore". Soon after, she was probably killed by Voldemort, and Nagini the snake posed as an impostor.

When Harry and Hermione came to Godric's Hollow looking for the sword of Gryffindor, Nagini lured them into Bathilda's home and trapped the two there; they ultimately escaped.
3. A "catty" woman: Men never mug goner gull

Answer: Minerva McGonagall

Professor McGonagall was the transfiguration teacher, head of Gryffindor house, and deputy headmistress during the books. She was also briefly headmistress twice: At the end of "Chamber of Secrets", and after Dumbledore died in "Half-Blood Prince". She is an animagus (a witch or wizard who can transform into an animal at will), turning into a tabby cat, a disguise we see her use several times throughout the series.

She also helped Harry in his ambitions to become an Auror (a law officer specializing in defeating Dark Magic), both when Dolores Umbridge said he had no chance of becoming one, and then helping him choose the correct classes in his sixth year.
4. Double-agent extraordinaire: Savor as nay up

Answer: Severus Snape

Professor Snape had one of the most key roles in the series. In the final book it is revealed that he had a crush on Harry's mother, Lily, in his childhood. After he left school, he joined Voldemort's followers, the Death Eaters, and was responsible for sending Voldemort after the Potters.

After Harry's parents were killed, he vowed to Dumbledore to work as a double-agent to Voldemort. Throughout the books, Snape was extremely mean to Harry (due to a rivalry with Harry's father), but always did his best to protect him from physical harm.

He was killed by Voldemort, who assumed that killing him would make him the owner of the Elder Wand.
5. A lesser-known name: Tamer vole ore addle

Answer: Tom Marvolo Riddle

Voldemort was given the name Tom Marvolo Riddle at birth, after Tom, his muggle father, and Marvolo Gaunt, his grandfather. We learn a lot about his backstory in "Half-Blood Prince". He grew up in an orphanage, where he suspected that there was something "different" about him, and was therefore not surprised to find out from Dumbledore that he was a wizard.

He was a model student at Hogwarts and gathered followers who later became the first Death Eaters. After graduating Hogwarts, he immersed himself in the Dark Arts, creating his Horcruxes along the way.
6. A quirky girl: Loon all of god

Answer: Luna Lovegood

Luna was not introduced until "Order of the Phoenix". She is a year younger than Harry and considered a bit of an outcast by her peers. However, during the fifth book she became extremely loyal to Harry and his friends, even helping them fend off the Death Eaters in the battle of the Department of Mysteries.

In "Deathly Hallows", she was kidnapped by the Death Eaters in order to get her father to write pro-Voldemort propaganda in his magazine, "The Quibbler". She later escapes with Harry from Malfoy Manor and returns to Hogwarts for the final battle.
7. An unlikely hero: Novel on button

Answer: Neville Longbottom

A boy in Harry's year, Neville started at Hogwarts as a clumsy character who kept losing his toad. His magical abilities improved greatly throughout the books, and he started to gain confidence in "Order of the Phoenix" while attending Dumbledore's Army meetings.

At the end of the fifth book, we learn that the prophecy that foretold Voldemort targeting the Potters could have also applied to Neville. In the final battle, when Harry was presumed dead, he stood up to Voldemort in claiming he would never side with him.

He then killed Nagini, the last Horcrux, with the sword of Gryffindor, making Voldemort mortal.
8. Not camera-shy: Call ink gravy

Answer: Colin Creevey

A year younger than Harry, Colin Creevey was fascinated by him from the first time they met. He carried a muggle camera at all times, taking pictures of Harry whenever he could. He later became a loyal supporter of Harry along with his younger brother, Dennis. Unfortunately Colin died in the final battle, a fight which he should not have been in to begin with, because he was not of age.
9. Annoying keeper: Core muck muck lagging

Answer: Cormac McLaggen

Introduced in "Half-Blood Prince", Cormac McLaggen was a seventh-year Gryffindor. He first appeared on the train ride to Hogwarts, where he was a part of the "Slug Club" with Professor Slughorn. He later tried out for the keeper position in Quidditch, where he lost out to Ron.

When Ron got poisoned and was unable to compete in a match, Cormac was chosen by Harry to be the substitute. He then proceeded to cost Gryffindor the match when a bludger he had hit struck Harry in the head. Throughout the book, he was a big annoyance to Harry.
10. Harry's little helper: Daub bee

Answer: Dobby

Dobby the house-elf was introduced in "Chamber of Secrets" where he tried to "save" Harry from the plot to open the chamber. He appeared in many books throughout the series, always helping Harry, because he was, in his own words, "a free elf!" His shining moment came in "Deathly Hallows" where he saved Harry and his friends from Malfoy Manor by causing chaos and later Apparating everyone out.

Unfortunately, he met his demise by doing so, as a knife thrown by Bellatrix Lestrange stabbed him in the chest. Harry buried him at Shell Cottage, where he had brought them.
