Princess Celestia was the ruler of the day, and each morning, would raise the sun. Princess Luna was the ruler of the night, and would raise the moon. Over time, Princess Luna noticed that all the ponies would come out and play during the day, but would go to sleep and ignore her beautiful night. She felt unappreciated and became resentful of the day and her sister.

When her jealousy became too strong, she became Nightmare Moon. She attempted to defeat her sister and shroud Equestria in an eternal night. Celestia ultimately prevailed, and banished her sister to the moon. Celestia took over her sister's duties of raising the moon, and ruled alone. While the ponies of Equestria were glad that Nightmare Moon was gone, Celestia was sad that she had lost her sister.

A thousand years after being banished, the stars aligned and gave Nightmare Moon enough strength to return to Equestria (in the series premiere). She once again tried to create an eternal night, but she was stopped by Twilight Sparkle, her friends, and the Elements of Harmony. The Elements of Harmony transformed Nightmare Moon back into Princess Luna, who was remorseful for her actions. She was reunited with her sister, and they began to rule Equestria together, once more.

Queen Chrysalis was the main antagonist of the season 2 finale. The Alicorn Amulet was a magical object that granted the wearer great power while simultaneously corrupting them. Trixie used the amulet to defeat Twilight in a magic duel (season 3, episode 5).

Answer: Gems

Spike, being a dragon, has a slightly different diet from his pony friends. His favorite snacks are gems. The ponies use gems to decorate beautiful outfits, and sometimes as currency, but Spike just wants to eat them. He even tried to make a delicious gem cake for himself, but couldn't resist eating all the gems before he had made it.

He is also known to be fond of ice cream (which he often eats too much of) and doughnuts.

Answer: Scooter

Scootaloo wants to fly, but still could not up until season 4. She may never be able to fly, which has fed her insecurity. Rainbow Dash, the best flier in all of Ponyville (and possibly Equestria) is Scootlaloo's idol and like a big sister to her.

Scootaloo does have a scooter, and she uses her wings to reach impressive speeds. She is very dexterous and can perform a lot of cool tricks. She is even strong enough to pull the other two Crusaders behind her across large distances.

Answer: The Wonderbolts

The Wonderbolts are a group of aerial acrobats, and considered the best fliers in Equestria. Rainbow Dash loves flying and performing, and it is her dream to one day join (and possibly even lead) the famed group.

Rainbow Dash even saved the Wonderbolts in "Sonic Rainboom" (season 1, episode 16) while at the same time performing (get this) a sonic rainboom. In season 3, Rainbow Dash got to attend the Wonderbolt Academy, and in season 4, they offered to let her fly on their team for the Equestria games. Rainbow Dash was torn between flying with her former home team and idols, or flying with the slower and less elegant team from Ponyville that she captained.

Answer: Bunny

Angel is Fluttershy's small white bunny. He can be temperamental and stubborn, in contrast to Fluttershy's calm personality. He will also sometimes push Fluttershy to stand up for herself. Angel can be difficult for Fluttershy sometimes, but for others he is downright impossible. He and Spike especially seem to not get along.

Answer: Cat

Opal is Rarity's white cat, and she likes being pampered and being lazy. She is often upset when the ponies' antics disturb her naps, and is rarely ever reasonable, except for Rarity.

Each of the Mane Six has a pet. Rarity has her cat, Opalescence. Applejack has a dog named Winona. Fluttershy has Angel. Twilight gets an owl named Owlowiscious. Pinky has a pet alligator with no teeth named Gummy. And Rainbow Dash, with Fluttershy's help, adopts a tortoise that she names Tank. Celestia also has a pet Phoenix, Philomena, and Spike once had a baby phoenix he named Peewee.

Answer: Sweet Apple Acres

Applejack, along with Apple Bloom, Big Mac, and Granny Smith, lives on the family farm, Sweet Apple Acres. Their main crop is apples, but they grow other plants, and have some livestock.

Applejack's cousin, Braeburn, helped establish the town of Appleloosa, which the main ponies visited in "Over a Barrel" (season 1, episode 21). Canterlot is the capital city of Equestria, and Twilight Sparkle's original home. The Mane Six frequently travel there for large events. Dodge Junction is a small frontier town that Applejack moved to temporarily in "The Last Roundup" (season 2, episode 14).

Answer: Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle

Twilight loved reading from the beginning, and even made her new home at the library when she moved to Ponyville.

In "Read It and Weep" (Season 2, episode 16), Rainbow Dash had to stay in the hospital for a while. Twilight brought her a book from the hospital's book cart to keep her entertained, "Daring Do and the Quest for the Sapphire Stone", the first in the Daring Do series. Rainbow Dash dismissed the book, saying that reading was for eggheads.

After being bored for hours on end, Rainbow Dash decided to give the book a try (while her friends were not around, of course). She instantly fell in love with the book, and could not stop. Rainbow Dash became so addicted that she shooed her friends away during a visit so she could continue her secret readings. Eventually she was discharged from the hospital, but before she could finish the book. She tried an elaborate scheme to sneak in undetected (or at least unidentified) to steal the book. She was unsuccessful, and ran to her friends, ultimately admitting she was an egghead, and enjoyed reading. Twilight, who lived at the library, lent her the library's copy.

Rainbow Dash became obsessed with the Daring Do books, and was seen reading them a few times. They were written by A.K. Yearling, and depicted the adventures of Daring Do, a young archeologist pegasus who frequently had to outsmart the evil Ahuizotl.

Answer: Rainbow Crash

Rainbow Dash was always confident and impulsive. She eventually became one of the best fliers in all of Equestria, but during her training at Cloudsdale, she earned the nickname Rainbow Crash for being uncoordinated. Spike also called her Rainbow Crash in "Bridle Gossip" (season 1, episode 9), when she was affected by poison joke.

Klutzershy was the name the bullies gave Fluttershy at flight school. Applejack calls many different ponies Sugar Cube. Tank is the name of Rainbow Dash's pet tortoise.

Answer: Rock Farm

In "The Cutie Mark Chronicles" (season 1, episode 23), the Cutie Mark Crusaders learned how the Mane Six each got their cutie marks.

Pinkie Pie was born and raised on a rock farm. It was dull, and boring, and joyless. One day, a sad Pinkie was working the fields when she saw a magnificent, brightly coloured rainbow light up the sky. She discovered bright colours and joy, and wanted to bring them to as many other ponies as she could. She moved to Ponyville, where she became a baker and a party planner.

Twilight was born and raised in Canterlot before she moved to Ponyville. Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy, as pegasi, both came from Cloudsdale (in fact, Fluttershy hadn't even been near the ground until just before she got her cutie mark). Rarity was born in Ponyville, being stuck in a small town with dreams of living in a large city. Applejack started at Sweet Apple Acres, and with the exception of a brief stint in Manehattan, has lived there her entire life.
