Where I come from there are two types of firefighters, paid and volunteers. It is a mistake to think that being a volunteer means that they are sub-standard. A firefighter has to protect life and property and to do that they risk their lives. Although the equipment in the photo is outdated, it is essential that firefighters today have protective gear and operational equipment to ensure their safety.

Answer: Miner

The photograph is actually from a mural of a coal miner at The State Coal Mine in Victoria, Australia. Great artwork, I think you will agree. There are many types of mines in Australia but where I am from the most well known are gold and coal mines.

This photograph is of a miner who mines by pick and shovel, loading skips by hand which are then hauled to the surface for transportation.

Answer: Gardener

If you ever get to Victoria, Australia a walk through McCully's Gully is a definite must. It is a garden that has been created by volunteers at the State Coal Mine, that is both a feast for the eye and a haven for the native flora and fauna. Gardeners, as the name implies, work in a garden that can be comprised of vegetables and flowers.

A rewarding job, where you can watch things grow and bloom, or develop into edible plants, or simply enhance the enjoyment of visitors.

Answer: Wedding Planner

The wedding planner's job is not the easiest job in the world. The planner has to meet the demands of the bride as well as the wedding's budget. When it all comes together it is a great event but we have all seen the disasters when things go wrong.

Although it is not necessary to have a wedding planner, they are popular with business professionals who are time-poor. Wedding planners look after the arrangements for the day including any legal requirements, location of service and celebration, photography, catering, and even organising the honeymoon.

A bartender's job is to serve drinks to the establishment's clientele. I chose champagne as the example but of course, drinks are varied from non-alcoholic, beer, wine, liquor and cocktails. The photo is of a beautiful set of glasses from the 1920s that adorn my home bar.

A carpenter spends time with tools including hammers, planes, measuring tools and the like. Many an hour is spent working on furniture, cabinetry and housing. A great job for those who like working with their hands. Not for the faint-hearted.

San Remo, near where I live, has a thriving fishing industry. The fishermen bring in various catches and sell them to the local co-operative, which in turn sells the catches to local restaurants and fish shops. As part of the community, the fishermen also spend an hour every morning feeding the pelicans. The feeding has become a real tourist attraction.

This musical instrument is a guzheng or Chinese zither. It is a stringed instrument with a long history of over 2,000 years. The sound is rather haunting and the natural surroundings of it being played against a background of lotus plants were just mystical.

Answer: Secretary

The role of a secretary has changed over time; whereas in the past it dealt with predominantly mail-orientated tasks, the increased use of technology has slanted the role to deal with more administrative tasks, organisational and co-ordinational. A good secretary will always anticipate the needs and requirements of his/her employer.

Answer: Tailors

A tailor makes, alters or repairs clothes for people. Traditionally, a tailor specialised in menswear and a seamstress specialised in women's clothing. Today, a tailor can be a person who makes clothes that are made for either males or females.
