Three have died by this book. Obviously, two of the soul-eaters who died are Fa and Tenris, the two brothers. The other we don't know about. The clans they came from are Wolf, Seal (sort-of), Oak, Viper, Bat and Eagle-Owl (we don't know anything about the last one). Tenris wasn't actually a mage, but he did convince the others to let him join.

Answer: White Fox clan

He was sent to look for the two of them. He thinks it is very bad that Torak is wolf clan and Renn has red hair because someone in his clan had a dream about a boy with 'wolf eyes' and a 'girl with red willow hair'. The boy was 'about to do great evil'. In other words, harm his clan creature - A.K.A Wolf.

Answer: A pile of sleds

This makes Wolf's abductors seem terrifying real. The book says 'Then - with appalling suddenness - they came upon the sleds, casually piled at the side of the trail.' This is how they had taken Wolf - by tying him to the sled.

Answer: The Soul Eaters

The Soul Eaters abducted Wolf because they wanted a sacrifice and they needed a wolf. As they sacrificed the animals, this is what they chanted: 'This is the owl. The first of the nine hunters. This is the eagle. For keenest sight. And to protect us from the rage within.

This is the fox. For cunning. And to protect us from the rage within. This is the otter. For water-skill. And to protect us from the rage within. This is the wolverine. For rage. And to protect us from the rage within. This is the bear. For strength. And to protect us from the rage within.

This is the lynx. For leaping. And to protect us from the rage within. This is the wolf. For wisdom. And to protect us from the rage within. This is the man. For cruelty. And to protect us from the rage within.' They only let Torak (disguised as the White Fox boy) come with them so they could use him for the ninth sacrifice.

The White Fox boy wanted to be a Soul Eater, so he asked if he could come with them. The Soul Eaters agreed and were going to sacrifice him, but first they got him to help do the main chores like gathering some of the sacrifices.

When he was going back to the cave where the Soul Eaters were hiding after getting an owl, he heard Torak and Renn and went to investigate. Torak headbutted him and Renn trained an arrow on his heart. Then they pushed him down a hill so Torak could take his place.

Answer: Black

Torak describes the root as tasting 'sweet, with an undertow of rottenness that made him gag.' He had to chew it to loosen his souls. If he hadn't, the Soul Eaters would have sacrificed him - meaning he couldn't do anything to save Wolf.

Answer: Cut off his tail

It describes the tip of Wolf's tail as 'matted with blood', 'greeny-black flesh' and 'smelt of rottenness'. Wolf grabs Torak's wrist in his jaws and almost severs Torak's wrist as he reaches for Wolf's tail. This is mainly because Wolf thinks Torak is bad (a Soul Eater). Torak carries on and Wolf describes the pain as 'a clean hurt and the badness was gone.' As a matter of fact, they only cut off the tip of his tail - about the length of your thumb.

This is what the White Fox elder dreamed about - a boy, holding an axe above his clan creature.

The proper word for cut off is amputate.

Answer: The Fire Opal

The Fire Opal that Torak and Renn destroy is only a fragment. The real thing was shattered by Fa, so they still have to find and destroy the other parts. After he shattered the Fire Opal, he started a fire in the camp. The fragment of the Fire Opal Renn had was only the size of a duck's egg. The whole Fire Opal was about the size of an adult's fist.

Answer: Stamp on his tail

Torak says he'll pay for that. He is very protective of Wolf by this book. Thiazzi was comparing Wolf to Torak who was crying out because Seshru tugged him up very roughly.

In the book, it describes how he gets this tattoo: 'Seshru was running her finger down his cheek. "You will never be free of me," she whispered in his ear. Then he felt Thiazzi's strong grip on his shoulders, holding him down, and Seshru was pricking his chest with a bone needle, rubbing in the stinking black stain made from the bones of murdered hunters and the blood of the Soul Eaters. "This mark," she breathed,"will be like the harpoon head beneath the skin of the seal. One twitch, and it will draw you, no matter how hard you struggle..."' If you have a certain edition of the book, there is an extract in it of book four, "Outcast". If you read that, there will be an interesting part about that tattoo. I hope you enjoyed my quiz.
