Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I have eleven apples that I need to split into two equal groups. If I have one apple left over, how many apples are in each group?

Answer: Five

I can make two equal groups with five (5) apples in each. I have one apple left over! If an adult were around maybe they could cut that apple in half so each group had five and a half(5.5) apples, but I think I'm going to just eat the leftover apple myself!

Question by Annealing
2. I want to buy my little sister a doll for her birthday and it costs $15. I don't have any money now but I get $5 each week as pocket money. My sister's birthday is in two weeks. Will I have enough money to buy it in time for her birthday?

Answer: No

No, in two weeks I will only have $10 saved, and that's if I manage not to spend any. Maybe I could ask someone to help me buy the doll or I could find something less expensive to buy for my sister.

If only I had thought of this a week sooner!

Question by Annealing
3. My name is 'Happy'. How many letters are there in my name?

Answer: 5

There are five letters in my name which are H, A, P (occurring twice) and Y.

Question by HappySsingh
4. I have invited 50 people to my party. If 5 of them did not come, how many of them attended the party?

Answer: 45

Since 5 people did not attend the party, therefore only 50-5=45 attended the party.

Question by HappySsingh
5. I have ten peaches. I give away all but one. I then buy 8 more peaches. How many peaches do I have now?

Answer: 9

Isn't math fun? Since I kept one peach therefore its obvious that I am left with just one. After that I bought 8 more peaches, so now I have 1+8=9 peaches.

Question by StrumStrummer
6. I am an odd number. Take away one from me and I become even number. Which of the numbers below am I?

Answer: Seven

The answer is seven as it is only odd number in the provided options. When you take one from it, (7-1=6) it becomes six which is an even number.

Question by StrumStrummer
7. The cost of a pencil $1.50. If I bought 4 such pencils then how much do I have to pay?

Answer: $6.00

The cost of 4 pencils will be $6.00 as $1.50*4=$6.00.

Question by Johnthedon2
8. Which of the following is a prime number?

Answer: 11

A prime number is a number that has only two factors that is one and itself. In the options given 11 has only two factors that are 1 and 11.

Question by Johnthedon2
9. I bought an 18-slice pizza. If I share three slices each with StrumStrummer, Annealing, HappySsingh and Johnthedon2, then how many slices are left for me?

Answer: 6

I am left with 6 slices. Since I shared 3 slices each with four different people, therefore I shared 3×4=12 slices. Now since 18-12=6, therefore I am left with 6 slices.

Question by Loveanimals555
