Apparition is a mode of transportation which involves focusing on where you want to go. Once you are completely focused you disappear and reappear at another location. After recovering the Slytherin locket they were unable to return to their safe house at Grimmauld Place because it was no longer protected by enchantments.

Hermione remembered spending time camping with her parents in the Forest. The three incorrect choices are other modes of wizard transportation.

Answer: Snatchers

Snatchers were a group founded by Voldermort after he took control of the Ministry of Magic. They captured Muggle-borns and turned them in to the Ministry for reward. Unlike Death Eaters they didn't have a distinct dress code, but they did have the Death Mark tattoo. They wore a red armband on their left arms similar to ones worn by the Ministry Police.

Answer: Slytherin Locket

After taking the locket from Dolores Umbridge, Harry wore it around his neck. While in town getting food he failed to summon a Patronus and knew something wasn't right. When he told Ron and Hermione they decided it was best to take turns wearing it. It had a very negative affect on Ron.

He began arguing with Harry. When Hermione told Harry to remove the locket he did and felt much better!

Answer: Harry's wand

When Harry and Hermione visited Godric's Hollow they tried to speak to Bathilda Bagshot. They knew she was a historian and thought that Dumbledore may have given her the Sword of Gryffindor. She was able to see them even under the Invisibility Cloak. They followed into her house and while Harry was alone with her she revealed herself as Nagini. Before Harry could defend himself the snake bit his arm and his wand went flying.

When Hermione heard the commotion she ran upstairs and used the Blasting Curse.

They Disapparated back to the Forest. Unfortunately, Harry's wand was broken beyond repair.

Answer: Sword of Gryffindor

Before Dumbledore died he used the sword in his hunt for Horcruxes and willed it to Harry, knowing he would need it too. Scrimgeour refused to give Harry the Sword, saying it was an artifact that should remain in Hogwarts. Dumbledore suspected the Ministry would try to confiscate it, so he placed a copy in his office for them to find and hid the real sword in a hole in the wall behind his portrait. Dumbledore's portrait instructed Snape to hide the real sword in the lake for Harry to find.

It's interesting to note that the sword was the only relic of the Hogwarts Founders that wasn't a horcrux, yet it destroyed horcruxes.

Answer: Engorgio

"Protego Totalum" is enchantment which shields an area or dwelling for an extended time. "Repello Muggletum", as its name implies, repels muggles from a certain area. While Snape was a student he created the "Muffliato Charm", which fills a person's ears with a buzzing sound so conversations can't be overhead. "Engorgio" caused a person or object to swell, sometimes to the point of exploding, and is not used on animals.

Dumbledore knew it was very important that Harry find the sword. It was equally important that Harry not know how the sword got there. As long as Harry didn't know who put it in the lake, there was no danger of Voldemort discovering it through Legilimency (or as we Muggles say: mindreading). Snape accomplished this by conjuring his Patronous to lead Harry to the lake.

Answer: Phineas Nigellus

Hermione placed Phineas' portrait in her beaded bag to prevent him from hearing their discussions at Grimmauld Place . When they left the house and Apparated to the Forest it was still in her bag. Ron's arm was injured when he"splinched". Spliching is Apparating or Disapparating unsuccessfully and leaving part of ones body or clothing behind.

As she was getting the Dittany from her beaded bag to help Ron, Phineas overheard their entire conversation and reported back to Snape through his portrait in Dumbledore's office.

Answer: The Deluminator

In addition to willing Harry the Golden Snitch and the Sword of Gryffindor, Dumbledore left Hermione a first edition of "The Tales of Beedle the Bard", a collection of wizarding fairy tales. He left Ron his Deluminator. Ron used the Deluminator to find Harry and Hermione after he angrily left them in the forest.

He was influenced by the negative energy he experienced while wearing the locket. The sound of Hermione and Harry saying his name came through it and led Ron back to his friends.

When Harry saw the Sword in the lake he went into the freezing water and tried to get it out. The locket tightened around his neck and almost drowned Harry by keeping him underwater. When Ron came back he was able to save Harry from the freezing waters and retrieve the Sword at the same time. Dumbledore had previously told Snape the Sword must be taken "under conditions of need and valor."
