Goulash is a warming dish of stew made from meat and vegetables and flavoured with paprika and other spices. It is said to originate from ninth century Hungary and is one of the national dishes.

Answer: The local preacher

Mr. Gruffydd is the kindly preacher who helps the boy Huw with his studies. He falls in love with Huw's sister Angharad and she with him, but they part and she marries another man. 'How Green was my Valley' has been adapted into a television serial and a film.

Answer: True

One way to remember this is that the ones at the top hang on tightly while the little mites (stalagmites) grow upwards. There are particularly beautiful examples of this kind of rock formation in the Cheddar caves, in Cheddar Gorge Somerset, England.

He was a member of the legendary Goons for whom he wrote most of the scripts. He died in 2002.

Answer: Westward Ho!

Westward Ho! is a seaside village near Bideford. It was created as a holiday destination by thirteen business people who bought some land and built a grand hotel, around which the rest of the village sprung up. Charles Kingsley wrote a book called 'Westward Ho!' in 1885, and many fans of the book travelled to Devon to see where it was set.

It may be that this inspired the name of the village. The other names are all made up.

Answer: My Old Man's a Dustman

This song was written and performed by Lonnie Donegan. It reached number one in the British, Irish, Australian, Canadian, and New Zealand singles charts in 1960. Lonnie, born Anthony James Donegan, was considered the king of skiffle, and was the most successful British recording artist internationally before the Beatles.

Despite their name these huge devoted and loving dogs originated in Germany. They were bred to hunt boar and protect the nobility's country estates. A dog called Zeus has been recorded as standing 3 foot 8 inches tall, measuring 7 feet 4 inches stood on his hind legs, with a weight of 155 pounds.
