3. Swansea, the second largest city in Wales, has residents that are referred to as what?

Answer: Jack

They can also be referred to as a "Swansea Jack" but that would have given the game away. The origin of "Swansea Jack" dates back to a terrier dog who in the 30s became famous for rescuing people from the sea. He saved a total of 27 people and won various awards. He died at the age of seven in 1937 after being poisoned. There is a monument to Swansea Jack and a public house named after him.
4. Someone from the North East city of Sunderland is often called what?

Answer: Mackem

Variations in the spelling do exist. Any of the following is acceptable: "Mackem", "Makem", and "Maccam". The name goes back to the shipbuilding that took place in the area on the River Wear, the quote being "We make 'em an' they take 'em."
5. If you come from this market town in the North East of England you could be called a "Quaker". What town is this?

7. Lying in a very rural part of the country, Ipswich, county town of Suffolk, has residents who are referred to as what?

8. A North East town has residents referred to as "Monkey Hangers". Which town is this?

The term "Monkey Hangers" goes back to the Napoleonic Wars and the legend that when a French ship was wrecked off the coast of Hartlepool the only survivor was a monkey. The alternative story is that a young boy was hung who was thought to be a "Powder Monkey" on the ship.

Answer: Cod Heads

"Cod Head" or "Codhead" refers to anyone from a town where fishing is prevalent. Grimsby is a large fishing town on the Humber River on the East coast of the United Kingdom. The town is close to the North Sea. This is where the nickname came from, due to the fishing fleet.
