Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Before he expired, His Lordship grabbed a hair from the murderer's head. This hair is the same colour as the surname of Harry Potter's godfather. What colour is it?

Answer: black

Sirius Black was "The Prisoner of Azkaban", a thought-to-be evil wizard, who actually turned out to be friendly.
2. A trustworthy servant overheard raised voices in the pool room on the night of the foul deed. One was Lord D'Eath's, the other sounded as if the speaker came from the last of the following countries to join the European Union. Which country?

Answer: Greece

Greece joined the Union in 1981, Britain and Ireland in 1973, and France as one of the original founder members in 1952.
3. The murderer's silhouette was seen through the lace curtains by an honest passer-by, who says the killer was about one-sixth as tall as the distance between the penalty spot and the goal-line in Soccer. How tall was the killer?

Answer: 6 feet

The penalty spot is 12 yards from the line. One-sixth is 2 yards, or 6 feet.
4. DNA evidence indicates that the killer was the same blood relation to Lord D'Eath as Marilyn Manson is to Jimmy Buffett. What relation?

Answer: No relation

That's right, the gaunt Manson is absolutely no relation to the singer of "Cheeseburger in Paradise".
5. His Lordship's last faint words were "Alas. I am undone. Look for the person with the ... oh what's it called ... you know ... the name of the drummer out of ZZ Top ...". What facial feature did the killer have?

Answer: Beard

A reference to Frank Beard, the member of ZZ Top who doesn't have a beard.
6. Foolishly, the killer left an item of clothing at the scene. It was an item of clothing that featured in the name given to cemeteries in the Wild West. What was it?

Answer: Boot

As in "Boot Hill" of course.
7. The pathologist can tell from the body whether the murderer was right or left handed. Unhelpfully, he will only reveal that the answer lies in the title of one of Thomas Paine's most famous pieces of writing. Which is it (right or left)?

Answer: right

Paine wrote his pro-democratic piece "The Rights of Man" between 1791 and 1792.
8. Through amazing new advances in forensics, we can tell the killer's eye colour. It's the same colour as the girl's eyes in a famous Van Morrison song. What colour?

Answer: Brown

Born in 1945, "Van the Man" had success in the 1960s with his band "Them", followed by numerous solo hits, including "Brown Eyed Girl".
9. Our final clue: the murder weapon used was the same one as the weapon used by Macbeth to murder King Duncan. What was it?

Answer: Dagger

Macbeth, Shakespeare's shortest play, contains many immortal lines including "Is this a dagger I see before me?"
10. We have 10 suspects: 1. Henry, the British butler, 2. George the chauffeur 3. Frank D-Eath, the victim's nephew, 4. Michelle the chambermaid, 5. Malcolm the gamekeeper, who goes everywhere barefoot due to allergies, 6. Chico, a 5 foot tall travelling tightrope walker, 7. Old white haired Chris, the gardener , 8. Sotiris, the left-handed Greek cook who was found mysteriously wandering around with no shirt on 9. Sven, the blue-eyed masseur and 10. The Irish handyman, Seamus. Whodunnit?

Answer: George

We know the killer is Greek, so it can't be Henry or Seamus. It can't be Frank (as a relation), or Chris (who doesn't have dark hair). Hopefully a beard rules out Michelle. Malcolm couldn't have been wearing boots, and Sotiris isn't right-handed. Sven doesn't have brown eyes. That only leaves George (the dagger was a red herring).
