Dan Quayle served one term as Vice-President under George H. W. Bush from 1989-93. The Bush/Quayle ticket lost the 1992 election to Clinton/Gore. Quayle's tendency towards confusion in speeches led to his being ridiculed in the press. Most famously, Quayle had a feud with the fictional character "Murphy Brown".
