The River Fergus run through the centre of the town and is known for its trout and salmon fishery. At one time, small boats used to make their way up the river from the Shannon and dock at the centre of the town.

Shannon Airport is the most western airport in Europe and is located in Rineanna, Co. Clare. Shannon Airport came into operation in 1942 when it became Ireland's first transatlantic airport.

Brian Boru, High King of Ireland, was born in Kincora around 940. He was the son of one of the royal free tribesmen of Munster. When his father and brother died, the kingship passed to Brian and he became the king of the Kingdom of Munster. He died in 1014.

In 1588, Sir Turloch O'Brien and Boethius Clancy, High Sheriff of Clare, executed the survivors of the Spanish Armada shipwreck. The town is also the birthplace of Dr. Patrick Hillary, former President of Ireland.

Answer: Killimer

The ferry crosses the Shannon River from Tarbert to Killimer and vice-versa. The 20-minute crossing saves an 85-mile journey if travelling by road.
