On 1st January 1990, Poland became the first Eastern European country to break off from the socialist economy. The country also withdrew from the Warsaw Pact.

On 25th June 1991, Slovenia declared independence from former Yugoslavia. This was followed by a brief war from 27th June to 7th July 1991 between the Slovenian Territorial Defence and the Yugoslav People's Army. The Brioni Accords were signed on 7th July 1991 to end the brief conflict.

The twelve European nations which signed the treaty at Maastricht, Netherlands were Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Greece, Spain, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal and the United Kingdom. On 17th January 1995, Kobe located in southern Hyogo Prefecture was struck by a 6.9 magnitude earthquake. The tremors lasted for about 20 seconds. The estimated number of death were from 5,500 to 6,400 people and about 250,000 to 310,000 displaced. This was the second most disastrous earthquake in Japan during the 20th century after the Great Kanto earthquake in 1923, which claimed more than 105,000 dead.
7. In 1996, a ewe named Dolly was the first mammal to be cloned in what country?

On 5th July 1996, Dolly was cloned from an adult cell at Roslin Institute in Midlothian, Scotland. She lived there for six years until her death on 14th February 2003. She was born on 22nd February 1997.

Answer: 1st July

The handing of power occurred on 1st July 1977. China made Hong Kong a Special Administrative Region. The practice of "one country, two system" was to continue for 50 years till 2047. Hong Kong participated in major sport events like the Olympics and Asian Games as Hong Kong.

The medal tally of China does not include Hong Kong. The situation is the same as Macau which was handed over in 1999.

Answer: Google

Google was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin while they were still studying for Ph.Ds in computer science at Stanford University. Google is managed by Alphabet, where Page and Brin are the CEO and president.
10. In 1999, what famous football club achieved the first treble in the history of English football?

Answer: Manchester United

Manchester United led by their legendary manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, achieved unique treble by capturing English Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League Cup. On 16th May, they edged Arsenal by 1 point, with a point tally of 79 to win the Premier League.

They won the FA Cup on 22nd May beating Newcastle 2-0 at Wembley Stadium. On 26th May, they came from a goal behind to score two goals in the dying minutes to defeat Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League Cup final at Barcelona.
