Answer: William I was crowned

A tricky question as all four events took place in 1066. First Harold was crowned, then he defeated Harald Hardrada at Stamford Bridge, but lost to William the Conqueror at Hastings, and finally William was crowned William I.
2. Who refused to eat Christmas Dinner in prison on Christmas Day 1906?

Answer: Suffragettes

There is a distinct difference between Suffragettes and Suffragists. Suffragettes used violent protest whereas Suffragrists did not. White feathers were given to pacifists during World War 1. Black Feathers is a made up group of people.
3. Which potential Chinese President arrived in Shang-Hai on Christmas Day 1911?

Answer: Sun Yat-Sen

Sun Yat-Sen was born on November 12th 1866. He spent time studying in Hawaii. He was elected provisional President of China on January 1st 1912. He was only president until February 12th 1912. Mao Tse-Tung is probably China's most famous leader. It was he who introduced Communism into China.

His little red book is one of the most widely read documents of the twentieth century. Mao Zedong is an alternative spelling of Mao Tse Tung.
4. Who was greeted by a mass boycott in India on Christmas Day 1921?

Answer: The Prince of Wales

This was a protest against British rule. India eventually gained independence in 1947, in the aftermath of the Second World War.

Answer: China

One of many violent events in China's history. More recently there was the Tiananmen Square Massacre in May 1989. Estimates suggest that the number of dead was in the hundreds. Ironically, Tiananman means peace.

Seoul hosted the 1988 Olympic Games. It is the capital city of South Korea. Seoul was at the centre of the Korean War and swapped hands on a number of occasons during the war, eventually ending up under the control of the Democratic South Korea.

Answer: Karl Doenitz

He became Fuehrer following the death of Hitler and was relieved of the position because of the Allied victory. The incorrect answers were all made up names.

Joan Miro was born in 1893. He was part of the surrealist movement of the 1930's. He also used Cubist elements in his early work.
