He toured until that Fall when illness forced him to withdraw.

Answer: Bert Convy

Bert Convy was the original Cliff Bradshaw. He later went on to become a game show host of several shows in the 70's and 80's. Sadly, he died of brain cancer in the late 80's.

Preston was with the show until early 1959. Forrest Tucker created the part in the national company and succeeded Preston on Broadway. Bert Parks took over from Tucker late in the run.

Nathan Lane played Pseudolus in "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" in a hit revival in 1996. Zero Mostel created the part in the original Broadway production in 1962. In 1968 Mostel starred in the classic film "The Producers" which was not a musical even though it had "Springtime for Hitler." Lane recreated the part in the new Broadway musical "The Producers" in 2001.

This show went on to win a record 12 Tony Awards.
