Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Oliver is a boy who had no last name at birth. Name the person who named him 'Twist'.

Answer: Mr. Bumble

Mr. Bumble named all the boys in alphabetical order. He told us this in the scene where he was in the funeral parlour. Squoggle was the last boy he named.
2. Who sang 'That's Your Funeral'?

Answer: Mr. and Mrs. Sowerberry

They both sang it in the funeral parlour when they were giving Oliver a job as a children's funeral-carriage follower.
3. In 'Where is Love', what tree did Oliver sing about?

Answer: Willow tree

A small growing tree of love is NOT sung about, nor is oak and certainly not a dead, hollow tree. Oliver sings: 'Is it underneath the willow tree that I've been dreaming of?'.
4. What food did the Artful Dodger give Oliver?

Answer: An apple

Dodger nicked an apple for Oliver because Oliver had been walking for a week with little food. That's how they met.
5. Fill in the blanks to finish the lyric: "Consider yourself at ____, consider yourself one of the _____'.

Answer: Home, family

The song is called 'Consider Yourself'. Listen carefully. Dodger sings this with heaps of people, including some from Fagin's gang.
6. Charlie is in Fagin's gang and is a good friend of the Artful Dodger. What is his last name?

Answer: Bates

Dawkins is the Artful Dodger's last name (his first name is Jack), Smith is not in the play and Brownlow is Oliver's grandfather's last name.
7. Fill in the blank to finish the lyric: 'Oom pah pah, that's how it ___!'

Answer: Goes

"Oom Pah Pah" is sung by Nancy with the help of the chorus, in the second act.
8. Bill Sykes sings one song. What is it?

Answer: My Name

Bill sings this song when "Oom Pah Pah" ends and he walks into the bar looking for a fight. By then almost everyone has left because of him.
9. Where does Nancy die?

Answer: London Bridge

Nancy plans to give Oliver to Brownlow but is still looking for him when Bill arrives. Bill isn't happy, and kills her.
10. 'I'm Reviewing the _______.' What word finishes the song title?

Answer: Situation

Fagin sings it at the end with the Dodger all the way to a new future that could be a miserable one or a carefree one. Who knows? Only Charles Dickens (the man who wrote this book -- yes, it was a book to begin with) knows.
