Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. To start off, what IS NOT a quote from the show?

Answer: How do you measure a year of life?

The actual saying is "How do you measure a year in the life?" or "How do you measure a last year on earth," as it is said later on. Measure your life in love IS actually said in the musical; when one of the soloists is singing on top of everyone, she sings this.
2. In the song "Rent," what does Mark say "ignites the night with passionate fire"?

Answer: Music

"The music ignites the night with passionate fire. The narration crackles and burns with incendiary wit!" They sing this song while trying to heat their apartment by burning posters and screenplays.
3. Who does Benny NOT have any connections with?

Answer: JoAnne

He used to live with Mark and Roger, he dated Mimi, and Angel killed his dog, Evita!
4. What do Collins, Mark, Roger, and Angel want to do in Santa Fe?

Answer: Open a restaurant

"Let's open up a restaurant in Santa Fe. Sunny Santa Fe would be nice!"
5. In "Over the Moon," Maureen's protest, she sings "I am forbidden to produce milk. In Cyberland, we only drink-" what?

Answer: Diet Coke

She is telling a story of a dream she had about Cyberland. In Cyberland was a cow named Elsie and a Bull-Dog named Benny (no coincidence!). Apparently the only way to get out was a "leap of faith" over the moon!
6. In "La Vie Boheme," what doesn't Mark hate?

Answer: Tension

"To loving tension, no pension, to more than one dimension. To starving for attention, hating convention, hating pretension. Not to mention of course, hating dear old Mom and Dad!" I love this song! You really have to look at the lyrics to understand every phrase in there!
7. Also in "La Vie Boheme," what is one of the things mentioned in Angel and Mimi's duet right after the whole cast shouts "wine and beer!" the second time?

Answer: yoga

"To hand-crafted beer made in local breweries. To yoga, to yogurt, to rice and beans and cheese!" is part of their duet. "Eating disorders" is the last line of Mimi's solo in "La Vie Boheme B," and "Heavy competition" is the last line of Angel's solo in the song "La Vie Boheme B." "Peewee Herman" is from "La Vie Boheme," too.
8. In the song "Halloween," what doesn't Mark question?

Answer: Why he's making a documentary

"Why did Mimi knock on Roger's door and Collins choose that phone booth back where Angel set up his drums? Why did Maureen's equipment break down? Why am I the witness? And when I capture it on film, does it mean it is the end and I'm alone..." A very sad song!
9. Who doesn't die (or have a near-death experience)?

Answer: Roger

This was sort of a trick question! Mimi doesn't quite die, but she comes close!
10. And finally, in the finale, the cast sings two lines over and over (boys sing one, girls sing the other). What lines are these?

Answer: "I die without you"/ "No day but today"

Finale B starts with some solos by Mark, Roger and Mimi. Then it goes into "Will I" and "No Day But Today," which leads into parts of "Without You" and "No Day But Today!" I hope you had fun taking this quiz on the amazing yet classic "RENT!"
