Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who was Lestat's creator?

Answer: Magnus

Magnus didn't wait around long. He told Lestat a few facts about being a vampire. (And I do mean a few.) Magnus left him a large treasure chest, then killed himself in a bon fire.
2. Lestat's father never figured out Lestat was a vampire. What ailment did Lestat's father have that kept him from realizing this?

Answer: He was blind

Lestat finally returned to his father when he got word his father was seriously sick. Lestat brought him across the ocean to New Orleans. In New Orleans, Lestat met Louis and that's where his father died, on the day of the riot.
3. While Lestat was taking Louis out to practice with Louis' powers in his early years, Lestat asked Louis to read the mind of an old woman. Could Louis read the woman's mind?

Answer: No

Not all vampires can read minds and it just so happens that Louis can not.
4. What's the color of Lestat's favorite tinted glasses?

Answer: Purple

Lestat lost these glasses in the book "Memnoch the Devil" while he was in that warehouse looking at the statue of Memnoch.
5. Who did Lestat first turn to for help after his body had been stolen?

Answer: Louis

Louis ends up turning Lestat down. Louis lectures Lestat about the 'great opporitunity' Lestat was being given. 'Lestat was mortal again; he should enjoy what he has. It is something they all want.' Lestat then gets very angry with Louis and burns down his little house.
6. What is Armand's real name?

Answer: Andrei

Andrei was born in Kiev, Russia. He returns to this place after Marius changes him into a vampire. There Andrei meets with his mother and father again, though they don't recognize Andrei at first. Through later events, Andrei's name is changed to Amadeo, then finally to Armand, which is the name we know now.
7. What was the name of the boy that interviewed Louis in "Interview with the Vampire"?

Answer: Daniel Molloy

How odd to go through an entire book calling one of the main characters, "the boy"? Anne Rice is a peculiar one.
8. In the third book, Maharet had a child in the midst of all the torture she and her sister had to endure in Egypt. What did she name that child?

Answer: Miriam

Khayman impregnated Maharet in Egypt, then Maharet left with her sister in disgrace. Maharet then had her baby girl. When the royal court came back hunting Maharet and her sister down, Maharet left her child behind with a village of kindly people, so at least her daughter could survive.
9. Lestat left his home behind to be in a traveling play when he was still human. He was a wonderful actor. What was the name of the character he played so well?

Answer: Lelio

Lestat desperately wanted to travel to Paris and especially to be in that play. He made money and had a wonderfully good time doing it. Too bad it didn't last.
10. In the third book, Queen Akasha and King Enkil were turned into vampires. Who was the first vampire to be created by the king and queen as an experiment of their powers?

Answer: Khayman

Khayman had been part of the court at the time. After an evil spirit joined itself with the queen Akasha, she changed the king Enkil into a vampire as well. They were frightened at first, then entranced with their powers. They called Khayman to their room and changed him into a vampire too. He in turn went and found the twins and turned them both into vampires.
11. In the book "Vittorio the Vampire", who did Vittorio fall in love with?

Answer: Ursula

Vittorio was actually tricked into becoming a vampire by Ursula. She wanted to be with him so badly. She also knew he would age and eventually die as a human, so she tricked him into taking her blood, then she apologized over and over for tricking him.
12. What city was Vittorio most fond of as a human? (He remembered going there and thinking his home was dull in comparison.)

Answer: Florence

Vittorio went to Florence with his father and saw paintings by his favorite painter Filippo Lippi. When Vittorio saw those paintings, he cried embarrassingly in raw emotion. They were paintings of angels.
13. What's the real name of the Devil, according to Anne Rice?

Answer: Memnoch

In the fifth book, "Memnoch the Devil", Memnoch did not appreciate being called "the Devil" or "Satan", so Lestat repeatedly called him these things just to annoy him.
14. Lestat found a dog in "The Tale of the Body Thief" before his body was stolen. What was the name of the dog?

Answer: Mojo

Apparently, the dog reminded Lestat of the dogs he had had when he was a child. (The ones that got killed while on a wolf hunt.) Mojo was remarkably calm around Lestat unlike most other dogs, so Lestat grew quite fond of him.
15. In "Vittorio the Vampire", how many siblings did Vittorio have?

Answer: 2

Matteo and Bartola were Vittorio's brother and sister and they were decapitated. Vittorio actually had had dreams of their deaths before the event happened. Afterwards, Vittorio laid the bodies of his immediate family in the tomb under the church.
16. Nicolas de Lenfent played an instrument. Lestat loved to listen to him for hours on end. What instrument did Nicolas play?

Answer: Violin

When Nicolas played his violin Lestat would begin to remember odd things. Lestat's memories would drift and he would start crying merely from being happy or sad. He would beg Nicolas to play for him.
17. Who was the first vampire Louis ever created?

Answer: Madeline

Lestat was actually the one that created Claudia, if you want to get technical; even though Louis blames himself for her creation. After Louis and Claudia ran away from Lestat to Paris, they met Armand. Claudia demanded that Louis make her a vampire companion, since Louis was obviously entranced by Armand. Louis reluctantly agreed and Madeline was borne.
18. Louis was so provoked by Lestat's horrible actions and dominant attitude that he tried to kill him.

Answer: False

Claudia was the one that was provoked by Lestat to kill him. She knew Lestat would never willingly let them go. Claudia convinced Louis to help her, but Louis didn't actually slit Lestat's throat or plan it in any way. The second time Lestat was attacked was when Louis set fire to Lestat. That was done more in self defense of himself and Claudia so I don't blame him for that either.
19. In "The Tale of the Body Thief", what was the name of the man that tried to steal Lestat's body?

Answer: Raglan James

James introduced himself to Lestat, appearing to be someone who just wanted the experience of being in Lestat's body and the money he would get at the end of their deal, but instead James kept Lestat's body. Rather predictably, hm? James spent all of his time as a vampire on "Queen Elizabeth II" -a boat his father had worked on before he died.

After a lot of trouble "Lestat" got back into his body on that boat and James was killed! *yah!*
20. Which vampire found Armand when he had amnesia as a human, took him in, educated him, and eventually turned him into a vampire?

Answer: Marius

Marius bought Armand from some bad people and brought him to his school. There Marius had teachers tutor Armand along with many other students. Marius named him Amadeo, but through later events his name shifted to Armand. The book doesn't explain why. It's probably because Amadeo means cherub, and the Satan worshippers Armand later affiliated with didn't like that too much.
