Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. At the beginning of this book, how many minor dragons have hatched out since the end of the last book?

Answer: None

It's still just Gymn and Metta at the beginning. Later in the book Dibl (yellow humor dragon) and Ardeo (white-grey light dragon) hatch out to join their predecessors.
2. What color are Regidor's scales?

Answer: Blue

"He wore a tan linen shirt, open at the neck and showing a pale blue, scaly chest. ...His hairless head and neck were shaped like an o'rant's but were covered with lustrous blue scales without visible ears."
3. What is the false name Regidor goes under when he is disguised as a foreign monk?

Answer: Abbot Gidor

Regidor poses as Abbot Gidor, a representative of his order of monks. The supposed order sells artwork and glass dishes for funds.
4. What is the trick used by Wizard Cam to lure Risto's dragons back to their riders?

Answer: The good dragons "turn bad" to persuade the bad ones back to their riders

"The gentle dragons mingled with the dragons gone wild, and the voice of reason won."
5. Who killed Risto?

Answer: Kale and Wizard Fenworth

Fenworth sent flames to consume Risto and dodged into his staff at the last second.
6. What is the name of the tumanhofer Toopka was running from at the beginning of the story?

Answer: Henricutt Tallowmatterden

Librettowit is Fenworth's librarian/reluctant companion on quests. Sittiponder is Toopka's friend who apparently heard voices while he slept; they gave him wisdom.
7. Does Bardon assist in the making of the gateways?

Answer: Yes

Bardon supports Kale's magical ability and helps to create the gateway in the later portions of the book.
8. How did Kale find out that Bardon was a halfling?

Answer: His ears were pointed

"Exploring with her fingers, she found the ear again and ran one finger around the curve of his lower ear, up the back, to to the top where a distinct point peaked and then tapered down to his temple. The tip was not as pronounced as Granny Noon's, Leetu Bends's, or Grand Ebeck's, but it definitely did not round off at the top like an o'rant's ear."
9. What is the name of Bardon's dragon?

Answer: Greer

Greer's last rider died. Paladin sent him to Bardon to become his dragon.
10. What does Fenworth keep insisting?

Answer: He's not getting old

"The tree rumbled. 'You're implying I'm getting old. I'll wrap you in bogweed, Cam, and throw you in a lake! Can't a man rest after slaying 2,356 Creemoor spiders?'"
"'No, was that last week, wasn't it? Or perhaps the week before?' 'Last century, maybe.' 'Was that before or after that uncomfortably cold spell, Cam? I do believe my memory is getting worse.' 'Could it be that you are getting old, Fen?' Senile! Both of you! 'Never!'"
Throughout the book he keeps on saying he's not getting old, despite the fact that he also asserts he is several millenia in age.
