Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. As chapter 13 of "Fullmetal Alchemist", titled "Fullmetal Body", begins, Edward has just finished a battle, but Alphonse is still in the middle of one. Who arrive(s) to end the fight?

Answer: Second Lieutenant Ross and Sergeant Brosh

Sergeant Brosh fires two bullets, hitting number 66 (Alphonse's attacker) in the hand and causing him to drop his weapon. After some banter between number 66 and Ross and Brosh, the threat of an explosion causes number 66 to retreat. Lust and Envy are nearby, but they are too preoccupied with Edward to visit Alphonse at that point.
2. After the explosion of laboratory 5, the scene switches to a nearby prison where a prisoner, shown with shackles around his hands, is becoming excited at the sound of the explosion. We next see that the reason his hands are in shackles is because he has transmutation circles on his hands. What is this prisoner's name?

Answer: Kimbley

Kimbley has the alchemic ability to turn humans into bombs. At this point, it is not explained why he is in prison.

Archer is the name of a member of the military, Sig is the first name of the husband of Edward and Alphonse's teacher, and Hyate (more specifically, Black Hyate) is the name of the dog that Riza Hawkeye adopts.
3. In chapter 14, "An Only Child's Feelings", Winry visits Edward in the hospital. When she gets to Edward's room, she finds him completely covered in bandages. What caused this?

Answer: Major Armstrong hugged him

When Major Armstrong first visited Edward at the hospital, he said he was worried about Edward and gave him a hug, causing Edward's wounds to reopen. Edward explains this to Winry when she asks how he injured himself so badly.
4. Alphonse leaves Edward's hospital room in a saddened mood. Everyone else in the room notices this and wonders what is wrong. After Sergeant Brosh guesses Alphonse is upset because Brosh punched him, Edward convinces him otherwise. What does Brosh then suggest is wrong with Alphonse?

Answer: He is love sick

After Brosh makes his suggestion, Edward calls him a love-obsessed freak, causing Brosh to collapse to the floor from shock. No one else in the room notices because they are focused on Edward's newly-repaired automail arm.
5. Major Hughes invites Winry to stay at his home overnight and is so excited about the idea that he drags her out of the hospital room. When they are next seen, they have just finished shopping for Hughes's daughter's birthday party. What item is Winry carrying as they are walking home?

Answer: A giant teddy bear

Hughes is actually the one holding the three wrapped gifts. He is able to carry them in one hand, while it appears the other hand is holding a gift steady that is strapped to his back.
6. At the end of chapter 14, Ed, Al, and Winry are in the hospital room when something is said that causes Al to become enraged and yell. What is it?

Answer: Ed comments on the size of Al's body

In this final scene of the chapter, Ed is eating but refuses to drink milk because he doesn't like it. He thinks about how people call him small and says that Al is lucky to have a big body. Al, thinking about what number 66 said during their battle about how he has no proof that his memories are real, screams that he never asked for that body.
7. At the start of chapter 15, "Fullmetal Heart", Al explains why he yelled. To Ed, Al's reasoning is so ridiculous that he storms out of the room and heads to the hospital rooftop. Winry convinces Al to go to Ed and apologize. When Al meets Ed on the roof, Ed decides to have a sparring match and finally beats Al. How does he do it?

Answer: He throws a sheet over Al's face

On the rooftop, there are sheets hanging on a line. When Al was distracted, Ed grabbed one of the sheets and threw it over Al's face and then kicked him in the face. When Al claims Ed cheated, Ed just tells him to shut up because a win is a win.
8. In an action-filled scene, Major Hughes is doing some research into the Philosopher's Stone when he is attacked by Lust. He thinks he kills Lust and rushes to a pay phone where he attempts to call military headquarters and inform them of his findings. While on the phone, a gun is pointed at him by Envy in disguise. Who does Envy look like when Hughes first sees him?

Answer: Second Lieutenant Ross

Hughes realizes that Envy isn't actually Ross when he notices her mole is in the wrong spot. When Envy changes the mole's location before Hughes's eye, Hughes knows something strange is going on. At this point, Envy changes his appearance to look like Hughes's wife so that Hughes won't fight back, and then pulls the trigger.

This is one of the most remembered scenes in both the manga and the anime both for its sadness (Hughes was one of the most loved characters by fans) and its shock value.
9. During chapter 16, "Separate Paths", the funeral of (now) Major General Hughes is shown. After the funeral, Colonel Mustang is standing at the grave. Riza Hawkeye comes over to speak with him and notices a tear coming down his cheek. What does Mustang claim is the cause of this tear?

Answer: It is actually a rain drop because it is starting to rain

Despite there not being a single cloud in the sky, Mustang still claims that it is about to start raining. When Riza tries to point out that this isn't true, Mustang insists that it's raining and Riza understands what he's trying to say.
10. The conclusion of chapter 16 and volume 4 switches the scene to Scar fighting off Lust and Gluttony in the sewer. He is shown using alchemy to blow up a wall and then the scene flashes to him waking up with bandages wrapped around him. Where does he wake up?

Answer: Still in the sewer

Scar is rescued by a couple of Isbalans who recognized him and knew he was wanted by the authorities. Despite that, they decided not to turn him in because he was one of them. While Scar is laying there resting, a child who helped rescue him takes notice of his tattooed arm and comments on it. Scar says that his arm tattoo is "something precious that my family gave me." Continued in volume five....
