"Meidou Zangetsuha" is the technique that opens the pathway to the netherworld. It turns the blade of the Tessaiga black ("Kuroi Yaiba").

This happened when Inuyasha was still mourning over the loss of Kikyou (Chapters 472-474). Kaou first attacked Inuyasha, causing the latter to bleed tears of blood ("Chi no Namida"), but later on decided that Kagome's soul was suffering even more. No explanation is given for why this should be so.

The demons inside the shikon no tama claim that Kagome was born in order to continue the battle of souls inside the jewel, like Midoriko did before her. Finally, he asserted, she was born to meet him, just as he was born to be with her (Chapter 556: "Unmei").

Naraku binds Kikyou and Inuyasha with his spider webs inside a hut, and Kagome gets caught in the web as she tries to enter it. The kanji used reads brother in law (giri no ani) although the furigana says anii-san (brother). So it is safe to assume that Inuyasha and Kagome have gotten married after all.
