Almost as soon as they were out of the root, Rhapsody knew they were no longer in Serendair just by looking at the stars. But she didn't realize how far away and how far out of time they had come. Serendair was destroyed when a twin of the star that sank half the island fell from the sky and submerged what remained from the first cataclysm.

Answer: "Come we in peace from the grip of death to life in this fair land."

Elynsynos had morphed herself into the shape of an Ancient Seren, Merithyn's own race, so that he might find her attractive. They fell in love and the wyrm opened up her lands for the first time in the history of the Earth. Whereever the Cymrians from the First Fleet went, they engraved their offering of peace in homage to Elynsynos and her sea-faring lover, as well as markers for those fleets that came after.

In chapter 25, Achmed tries to comfort Rhapsody when she tells them of Serendair's demise. She described his comments as uncharacteristically gentle because he had never treated her with anything else except indifference.

After checking Ashe for any signs of injury in his private area, Rhapsody makes a flirting comment about if he doesn't have any hard feelings toward her, then she must not have done her job right or that he was indeed injured. He then blurts the insult and causes her to storm off.

One of the things that makes Elizabeth Haydon's work so entertaining is the way the characters interact like real people. The exchanges between Achmed, Rhapsody, and Grunthor are by far the most entertaining, whether it is comical or serious.
