Scornubel was being invaded by drow slavers, who were replacing the citizens to, hopefully for the drow, prevent arousing suspicion.

Qilue is indicated as a High Priestess of Eilistraee, and she was leading a dance in honor of the Dark Lady of the Dance in Ardeepforest at the beginning of Chapter 2. Dove joined in the dance, and caused an uproar when the dark elves noticed Dove.

It had been decided that Qilue should have had an easier time infiltrating the drow community in the town, as any magic to dispel a shape change spell would still leave Qilue as a dark elf, which hopefully would have given her a chance to talk her way out of it.

Unfortunately, when her cover as Namra was compromised, she was recognized and tossed into a river, with heavy blocks to drown her.

Brelma was one of the slavers in Scornubel. Fortunately for Qilue, she was capable of walking around as a dark elf because a costume party of sorts was taking place in Waterdeep at this point, and anyone who saw her assumed she was being bold by wearing a dark elf form.

Laeral and Qilue were discussing plays while roaming Skullport following some thugs. Laeral quoted a part of the critique One-Eyed Jack had written about a specific play, and admitted to being the critic when Qilue called her on it.

Laeral was attempting to determine how much Sylull knew and how deeply she was involved based on what information Qilue had given her. The information led her to Auvrarn Labraster being involved as well.

It was difficult to figure out how the death had been accomplished, because the Red Griffon Room was a magic dead room. It was difficult to figure out how Muirtree had been clawed to death since beasts could not be gated into the room.

Taern was referred to as Thunderspells or Old Thunderspells behind his back. Alustriel certainly cared deeply for Taern.

Apparently a cycle was set in place in case Labraster ever got in over his head. The first part of this cycle was an umber hulk, followed by a couple of Thayan wizards.

Lustra was Alustriel's nickname to those who were very close to her. Alustriel felt that Taern had been such a good friend for so long, that he should feel free to call her Lustra.

Labraster was scared that Alustriel would try to track him down to kill him, so Meira altered his appearance to help protect him from any scrying.

Blandras was a well liked individual in Neverwinter, and was not known to care much about being aggressive in business. Labraster was forced to do things covertly in Neverwinter to avoid causing any suspicion.

Alaithe had been Blandras Nuin's servant for years, and Labraster killed her, suspecting that she knew he wasn't Blandras. Sylune used this to her advantage to get names of Thayan wizards involved in the cabal.

Irlmarren was the only Thayan that Sylune did not pass on to Alassra. Labraster hadn't supplied that name, and the sisters were simply focusing on the members of the cabal in this book.

Maerdival had apparently outlived his usefulness, and was going to be killed. He pleaded with Storm to save his life. She agreed, even knowing he was a Zhent, allowing him to assume her form until morning.

Since Storm and Sylune are the only ones that live in Shadowdale, which is where the final chapter takes place, they are the only ones who would apply. However, since Sylune has been a ghost for so long, she has no reason to fear death, as she's already passed beyond the need to worry about such things. Wyndal thought to kill Storm in the hopes of being able to get away from her.

However, he couldn't bring himself to do so, and went back to writing a new Heartsteel book.
