Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is Darth Plagueis's real name?

Answer: Hego Damask

Hego Damask, a.k.a. Darth Plagueis, is the CEO to the successful Damask Holdings company, a supporter of Muunilinst's InterGalactic Banking Clan. When Hego was young, he was trained by the Bith Sith Lord Darth Tenebrous in the way of the Rule of Two. From there, Damask would lead a double life as the head of Damask Holdings while simultaneously plotting to overthrow the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order.
2. On which world did Darth Tenebrous die?

Answer: Bal'demnic

On the backwater world of Bal'demnic, where Darth Tenebrous had commenced a cortosis mining operation, he and Plagueis were both nearly killed in an explosion that was the result of a malfunctioning droid digging for the ore. Though they both survived, Plagueis saw an opportunity to finally do away with his Master and carry on the Rule of Two, which he took. And when he ended Tenebrous's life, he tried to use him as part of an experiment in his bid to manipulate midi-chlorians to control life, and thus, prolong his own life indefinitely.
3. Who was 11-4D's previous master?

Answer: Ellin Lah

As part of his escape from Bal'demnic, Plagueis had stowed away on the Wobegone, captained by Ellin Lah and her crew. When they found out about him, he at first tried to reason with them, but when that didn't work, he slaughtered them all. He later had the Wobegone slagged and took only its operator droid, 11-4D, who would help him perform his experiments in manipulating midi-chlorians.
4. What was the name of the apprentice who Darth Tenebrous trained behind Plagueis's back?

Answer: Darth Venamis

Darth Venamis was the Sith who Tenebrous trained, unbeknownst to Plagueis, in the off-chance that Tenebrous found that Plagueis was no longer useful and needed to be replaced. Venamis attacked Plagueis at his home, not knowing that Tenebrous was dead at this point, and they engaged in a lightsaber duel, which Plagueis won without killing the lesser Sith.

As a result, Venamis vowed allegiance to his new Master, Plagueis, who then ordered him to poison himself as part of his experiments to manipulate midi-chlorians.
5. What was the name of the young man on Naboo who supplied Hego Damask relevant information regarding the monarchy of the planet?

Answer: Palpatine

Palpatine was a young man who was secretly going against the wishes of his influential father, Cosinga, regarding the leadership of Naboo. As Hego Damask, Plagueis approached young Palpatine to see how much of a useful source of information he could become to him. But when Plagueis met the young man, he would get much more than he wished for...
6. What was the last thing Palpatine said before he killed his family?

Answer: "We are all in this together now!"

After his father took him away from Plagueis, Palpatine confronted Cosinga, getting him to admit that he hated Palpatine just as the latter did to his own father. Palpatine then dared his father to come and kill him, which Cosinga attempted to oblige, before the young man used the Force to beat him.

He then proceeded to massacre everyone aboard his family's private starship with the line, "We are all in this together now!" As a result, Palpatine would become Plagueis's apprentice, Darth Sidious.
7. Who was Palpatine's predecessor as Senator of Naboo?

Answer: Vidar Kim

Vidar Kim was a mentor to Palpatine in terms of politics for years before the young man became Darth Sidious. In his bid to become the Senator of Naboo, which Kim currently was, he had a friend of his, Kinman Doriana, hire an assassin to end Kim's life. The assassination was successful and Palpatine was elevated to the rank of Naboo's representative Senator.
8. Who was the Gran enemy of Plagueis who wanted him dead?

Answer: Pax Teem

Pax Teem was Malastare's representative Senator who was a financial enemy of Hego Damask. Around the time of Palpatine's elevation to the rank of Senator, Teem hired Maladian assassins to kill Plagueis during a ceremony in the Order of the Canted Circle, which Damask is a member of, for Plagueis's assistant, Larsh Hill. Almost all of the members except for Plagueis were killed, and the Sith Lord himself was wounded.

In retaliation, Palpatine attacked Teem during a private party and killed everyone there in a dark side rage, including Teem himself, leaving no evidence behind.
9. Did Darth Sidious attack Darth Plagueis in his sleep when he killed him?

Answer: Yes

As anyone who watched "Revenge of the Sith" should know, Palpatine killed his own Master in his sleep, as he told the tale to Anakin Skywalker years later. He did it by first lulling Plagueis into a brief slumber before attacking the Sith Lord with Force electricity. Palpatine then went into a prolonged monologue about how he had manipulated Plagueis into doing his own bidding, as Plagueis woke up after the initial attack but severely weakened and defenseless, and then Palpatine simply tortured his Master to death.
10. When does the novel end?

Answer: Just as "The Phantom Menace" does

This novel extends all the way from 67 BBY (that's 67 years before the events of the original "Star Wars" film) all the way to 32 BBY, just after the Battle of Naboo, portrayed in the climax of "The Phantom Menace", commenced. And Plagueis was still alive until the Battle of Naboo; which means that throughout the entirety of the first prequel film of "Star Wars", Palpatine was still just a mere apprentice even while he pretended to be the Master of Darth Maul.

While Palpatine had really been manipulating Plagueis the entire time, he would only really take control of the Sith just as he would take control of the Galactic Republic as its Supreme Chancellor.
