Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This fighter was famous for killing both Death Stars, in addition to being the main Rebel Alliance fighter.

Answer: X-wing

Video games will say that A-wings were present at both Death Stars, but the movies don't show them, and movies are the final word on anything "Star Wars"-related. The Y-wings that did attack the Death Star were all destroyed, quite quickly, by the Imperials.

The Y-wing shown fleeing the Death Star at the end belonged to Keyan Farlander (although this is outside of the movies). None actually destroyed the Death Star. At this point, B-wings weren't even invented yet.
2. This starfighter was the X-wing of the Imperial fleet. What is its most basic form's designation?

Answer: TIE Fighter

Clearly, bombers are never the main dog-fighting ship. Their purpose is heavy weapons, and that is their sole purpose (usually). The Interceptor and Advanced x1 are highly prestigious ships, so they would not be the main ship of the Imperial fleet. These are like the F-22 Raptor to the F-4 Phantom; one is much more elite than the other.

The TIE Fighter is extremely common. In fact, one Star Destroyer can carry up to 6 squadrons, so it's kinda self-explanatory.
3. A popular pirate starfighter, this combined the ball cockpit of a TIE Fighter with the engines of a Y-wing. Which fighter was this, which melded low speed, no shields, and an extremely high death rate into a perfect blend?

Answer: TYE-wing

The Z'ceptor combined the Z-95 and the TIE Interceptor (Z-95 fuselage, TIE Interceptor wings). The X-tie combined the X-wing and the TIE fighter (X-wing fuselage, TIE wings). The Clutch was basically a TIE Defender, but much less spectacular, and not nearly as powerful.

The TYE-wing was an awful fighter, but was common because Y-wings and TIE Fighters were plentiful throughout the galaxy. Corran Horn once said that he would prefer to float into a battle with a blaster than fly a TYE-wing. For the problems listed in the question, the TYE-wing was also known as a DIE-wing.
4. In "The Bacta War," Rogue Squadron assembles a team of fighters. Before the Battle of Thyferra, what was their main composition of starfighters?

Answer: X-wings and Chir'daki

Yes, TIE Bombers were present, but that was only three TIE Bombers, that were heavily modified, so that they weren't really TIE Bombers anymore (flown by Gand ruet'savii). Plus, every "Star Wars" geek knows that Rogue Squadron is famous for its X-wings (unless you're in the Legacy era, like 140 ABY). No one had any Y-wings or Interceptors in "The Bacta War" unless they were Imperial (Y-wings actually never appear).

The Chir'daki was ugly, built from the ball cockpit of a TIE, the rotator cuff of a B-wing, and the S-foils of an X-wing. Essentially, imagine the rear of an X-wing rotating around a TIE fighter. It was armed only with lasers, but was hyperspace capable and had shields, which made it superior to the ordinary TIE.
5. At the Battle of Coruscant, which of these fighters did Obi-Wan Kenobi pilot?

Answer: Eta-2 Actis Interceptor

The Delta-7 was what Obi-Wan piloted at Geonosis, not Coruscant. The other two fighters were mostly clone-piloted. The ARC-170 had S-foils and was armed with two gigantic cannons on the edge of each wing. The only Alpha-3's seen were at the end of "ROTS," escorting Palpatine's shuttle.
6. What is the name of General Grievous' personal starfighter? It was a Bebullab-22, eventually stolen by Obi-Wan Kenobi in his escape from Utapau.

Answer: Soulless One

The "Soulless One" was basically invincible, due to the defenses required by the CIS Supreme Commander. It was quite heavily armed, and served Obi-Wan quite well in his escape. It was also built with a hyperdrive, so Obi-Wan would not have had to fly up to a hyperdrive ring and make himself vulnerable.
7. Mission Profile: An Imperial convoy with escorting TIEs has been located. Destroy the TIEs, but nothing else. Get in, get out. Avoid losses. Which fighter should you choose in order to quickly kill starfighters without incurring your own losses?

Answer: A-wing

The other three choices are various assault fighters. If you wanted to destroy the convoy, yes, these are a decent choice, except for the fact that the TIEs would easily outmaneuver you and destroy your ships. Only the A-wing is an interceptor-type fighter.
8. This starfighter-based technique was used by Garm Bel Iblis to great effect at the Battle of Bilbringi. It involved X-wings hiding A-wings in their exhaust. The X-wings would suddenly break apart, allowing the A-wings at least one unanswered salvo. What is it?

Answer: A-wing Slash

The Tallon Roll was a method to stay on an enemy pilot's tail. The Slip-jaws was used by wingmen to clear fighters off each other's back. The Ackbar Slash was primarily capital ship based, so it is clearly not a choice.

Grand Admiral Gilad Pellaeon once used the A-wing Slash, but replaced the X-wings with Preybird starfighters and the A-wings with proton torpedoes.
9. What is the name of the primary Chiss starfighter? Jagged Fel pilots one. (The official and unofficial designation are both okay).

Answer: Clawcraft

The Nssis-class clawcraft combined the ball cockpit of the TIE fighter with any interesting looking pair of curving wing pairs that ended in laser cannons at the front of the fighter. It was hyperspace capable, though it depended on special hyperspace beacons. It was slightly slower than the TIE Interceptor but more than made up for it in its incredible maneuverability.
10. Which of the following was the personal fighter of Boba Fett, at least in the movies?

Answer: Slave I

The "Slave I" first belonged to Jango Fett. Boba Fett retrieved the "Slave I" from Geonosis after his father's death. It has gone through a long history, spent mostly chasing down bounties. It was not incredibly fast, but had high maneuverability and was heavily armed with laser cannons, blasters, proton torpedoes, concussion missiles, an ion cannon, and a tractor beam.
