Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Robert Jordan passed away in September, 2007. Who was chosen by his wife and editor, Harriet McDougal, to complete this final instalment?

Answer: Brandon Sanderson

Harriet McDougal was impressed by Sanderson's 'Alcatraz' series, and his eulogy of Robert Jordan. Sanderson and McDougal realised that there was way too much volume to fit in one book, so they decided to split it into three. The first out of those three volumes is called 'The Gathering Storm'.
2. Why does Moridin refuse Demandred and Mesaana's plea to help Semirhage?

Answer: She injured Rand

Moridin is furious with Semirhage for various reasons. One, she injured Rand by weaving Fire and destroying his hand. Two, she exposed herself and let herself be captured. Three, she lost the Domination Band and the male a'dams.
3. Shai'tan chooses to help the captured Semirhage. Who does he send to break Semirhage free of her prison?

Answer: Shaidar Haran

After Cadsuane and the other sisters break Semirhage (Cadsuane figured that Semirhage only had courage as long as her jailers were in awe of her), Shaidar Haran frees Semirhage and tells her that it is her last chance. He warns her not to fail.
4. After Semirhage is freed, which sister gives her the Domination Band to control Rand?

Answer: Elza

Elza was one of the Aes Sedai from Tar Valon who was sent to capture Rand. After Rand broke free, she was one of the sisters who swore fealty to him, and, according to Rand, the most eager. It was revealed in 'Knife of Dreams' that she serves Shai'tan, and Rand gets to know in 'The Gathering Storm', when she helps Semirhage control Rand. Semirhage shields Rand from the True Source, but Rand wields the True Power, which comes from the Dark One, to weave balefire. Semirhage's last words were 'The True Power. Why have you betrayed me, Great Lord? Why?'. Rand weaved balefire to kill Elza and her.
5. Where does Rand deport Rodel Ituralde after recruiting him in Arad Doman?

Answer: Saldaea

His reason for not letting Ituralde and Bashere stay in their nations is that they not gain too much popularity and strength, to overthrow him.
6. Why does Rand exile Cadsuane?

Answer: Because Semirhage escaped with the Domination Band Cadsuane was supposed to securely hide

Cadsuane had woven certain wards over the chest in which she kept the Domination Band, but Semirhage countered them and tried to control Rand with the Band, leading to her death.
7. Which innkeeper in Bandar Eban was Cadsuane's acquaintance?

Answer: Quillin Tasil

Quillin's daughter Namine became Aes Sedai and settled into the White Tower library. He relays to Cadsuane information of Alsalam's whereabouts. Alsalam, the King of Arad Doman, is believed to be missing.
8. Which Asha'man does Rand send as envoy to the Seanchan?

Answer: Naeff

Rand sends Naeff to set a meeting with the Seanchan in Falme, in order for him to sign a truce with them. He later meets with Tuon and her Deathwatch Guards.
9. After Rand captures Kerb, he interrogates him to find out Graendal's whereabouts. Where does Kerb say Graendal is?

Answer: Natrin's Barrow

Kerb's mind was put under Compulsion by Graendal. He had the Compulsion removed by Nynaeve, told Rand the location and died. Nynaeve was furious with Rand about his death but Rand explained to her that after the Compulsion was removed, he was alive only because of his hatred towards Graendal, which dissolved after he betrayed her location.
10. Who does Rand send as a decoy to Graendal's Palace in order to confirm Graendal's death?

Answer: Ramshalan

Rand tells Ramshalan that he is to set a meeting with Graendal. After Ramshalan returns, Rand finds out that he is under Graendal's Compulsion. Satisfied, he balefires the whole of Natrin's Burrow, and asks Nynaeve whether the compulsion was gone. Nynaeve confirms it was, which implies that Graendal had died from balefire, thus reversing her last few actions.
