They two actually aren't related at all. Reggie found the young girl outside his house on one stormy night and saw how frightened she was. The little girl claimed her father did this to her. This made Reggie fabricate the story about her being his niece, to prevent her from being given back to her father.

All the children were taken by the gingerbread man but Suzy. Suzy was the child at Reggie's Halloween party who ends up with Bethany's witch hat. Kara was the child that was killed giving O'Mally the fuel to further investigate, and Ivy and Amanda are the same person. She is also one of the first victims to get away from the man.

This was the best twist of the whole book. It turns out that Holly's uncle Marty is the one actually committing the crimes. Maggie Shayne makes you think it's Dr. Graycloud and Reggie because of them hiding all the details about Amanda. Chief Mallory is the head detective of the department of Dilmun and a personal friend to Holly.

This was actually a cool discovery on the part of O'Mally. He had a hunch after spending some time with Amanda and Holly that they were related. When the two girls donated blood to try and help Reggie, O'Mally made them compare the two samples to each other. It was then discovered that Amanda and Holly were indeed siblings.

Hubey Welles was the one to confess about killing Ivy. He made a deal with the DA to take the death penalty off the table. In actuality Martin Cantrell was the one killing the children even though he never confessed. Reggie and Dr. Graycloud were just trying to help a hurting child, which ends up hurting Holly's whole family.

This one is false. The book doesn't go into details about their romance but Vince says "I will never hurt you Red .... I swear to god I will never ever hurt you." and she replies "I love you Vince, I love you so much." which leads you to believe they are going to be together.

Holly and Vince got stranded because they lost their light from the beach. Also it started to rain and they got pushed further out onto the lake. They eventually hit a rock and capsized their boat and had to swim to the nearest shore. After Vince and Holly walked a little way up the shore line, they found they were outside Reggie's place.
