Devnee really longs to be beautiful. In fact, at the beginning of the book, when she is alone in the house, she starts playing 'The Beautiful Game'.

Quote from book 'But Devnee had wanted the tower. How romantic the tower had sounded! Her own castle, her own corner of the sky. She would fling open the windows and a blue sky and a gentle sun would welcome her to a new town. She would curl up on her sleigh bed to read books, and she would brush her hair in front of a mirror with a white wicker frame, and somehow this time, in this town, this year, she would be beautiful and she would be popular and happy.

Of course Aryssa did not want to make Devnee beautiful! She only volunteered because she thought that Devnee was smart. But unfortunately Devnee turned out to be as dumb as Aryssa, and so the latter soon got tired of having Devnee around. Quote: 'I know that kind.

She never catches on. She never picks a clue. She'll be there forever. You'd have to run over her with a truck to convince her you don't want her around.'

Two - only Aryssa and Victoria. Devnee wants to have it all, but only gets Aryssa's beauty and Victoria's mind before she decides it's not worth it.

Devnee hardly knew Karen, but she was really bad at sports while Karen was brilliant. So the Vampire told her to hand Karen over, and he would make Devnee athletic too.

Answer: She puts a door with a cross on it so he can't come in, and stops wishing.

First she stops wishing - because that's how the Vampire works - he grants wishes. And secondly she takes the bathroom door, and puts it over the door of the tower room.

Answer: Basketball

The only few times he is mentioned in the book, is almost always in terms of basketball. And do you remember the game Devnee went to watch? She had so much fun being beautiful, until she met Aryssa's parents, and nearly fainted.
