5. Jami Gertz starred as Andrew McCarthy's ex-girlfriend, in this movie that examines teen drug use within L.A.'s privileged young adults.

Answer: Less Than Zero

Jami made her film debut with Tom Cruise in "Endless Love", and also starred in the 1980's sitcom, "Square Pegs" with Sarah Jessica Parker and Tracy Nelson. "Less Than Zero" is an honest look at the lives of three teens. Andrew McCarthy is home on Christmas break from college, when he runs into his ex-girlfriend (Jamie) who is having plenty of problems with her new boyfriend and drugs. Robert Downey Jr. plays her boyfriend (ironically, because this is about the time Robert starting having his drug problems.) This movie has a strong anti-drug message.

6. Andrew McCarthy and Ed Lauter appear in this movie about a 1940's anti-gangster squad of the Los Angeles Police Department, who use brutal tactics to get what they need.

Answer: Mulholland Falls

Andrew got his big break in "Class" with Jacqueline Bisset and Rob Lowe. "Mulholland Falls" stars Nick Nolte and Melanie Griffith. Nick heads the squad of cops who are investigating the murder of a young lady who has ties to some very influential men. The FBI eventually becomes involved in the cover up of the murder.

7. Ed Lauter appears with Joan Cusack in this comedy about a mob informer who is put in the witness protection program. The informer is under the watchful eye of a stereotypical nerdy, uptight FBI agent. The mob informer (Steve Martin) isn't happy with his new life (surprise) and reverts back to his old ways. When he discovers the community he lives in is full of his old pals, also in the witness protection program, things just go from bad to worse.

Answer: My Blue Heaven

Ed is famous for playing mean characters, such as Captain Knauer in "The Longest Yard". This movie stars Steve Martin and Rick Moranis as the mob informer and FBI agent. Steve turns out to be the hero after all when his scheme to make money also benefits the community.

8. Joan Cusack stars with her brother, John Cusack, in this movie about two recent high school graduates who fall in love, in spite of his aimlessness and her drive to succeed.

Joan made movie debut in "My Bodyguard" and has appeared in numerous other films with her brother, including "Class" and "Sixteen Candles". She also earned an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress in 1988 for "Working Girl".
