Answer: Yes

"Hidlago" is based on rider Frank Thomas Hopkins, and his horse Hidalgo. Hidalgo is a beautiful painted wild Mustang. Frank is part Native American and part English. The movie is based on their most exciting adventure. They go and race in the Arabian desert.
2. Who played Frank T. Hopkins?

Answer: Viggo Mortensen

Hopkins was a wonderful man who cared very much for his horse. He was born in 1865 and died in the 1950's. He rode unitl he was almost 80 years old. He started the first wild mustang preserve and Hidalgo's ancestors still roam free there.
3. What was thought of as a good luck symbol?

Answer: locusts

Jazira said something to the effect of "think of them not as a plague, but as a sign from Allah, and eat them." Of course he ate one!
4. If a horse had a foal during the race they would parade around with the sire (the dad) and foal.

Answer: False

They would have to kill the foal and the sire. This was considered a sin to Allah, if a horse was bred during the race.
5. Who did Frank work with before the Great Race?

Answer: Annie Oakley and Buffalo Bill

Frank had a comedy act that sometimes appeared in Buffalo Bill's "Wild West Show".
6. Who played Jazira?

Answer: Zuleikha Robinson

Louise Lombard played Lady Ann, Kimberly Norris played Frank's mother, and Omar Sharif played Jazira's father Sheikh Riyadh.
7. What almost kills Jinni's rider?

Answer: quicksand

In the movie, someone died from all of these disasters execpt the plague of locusts. Hopkins, being the good man he is, saved him from the quicksand despite the rider's request.

Answer: hurts my horse

This is personally my favorite line in the whole movie. Viggo says it after the prince set a trap for him and his horse. After that, Frank sets a trap that catches him and kills the prince.
9. What do the Arabian's call Frank?

Answer: Cowboy

They call him cowboy because of his hat, and where he comes from.
10. What did the Native Americans think of the horse when they first saw it?

Answer: all of these

The Native Americans had no real words for the horses. They saw the horses run into battle, carrying their owners until they died. Isn't that just beautiful?
