Beyond Borders Trivia Quiz

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the name of the child that Nick brought to London as his talisman, his 'courageous Africa'?

Answer: Jo Jo

Jo Jo was 10 years old. Nick Callahan really admired him for his courage because 'he was so weak he could hardly stand, yet he still found the strength to bury his entire family'.
2. What was the name of Sarah's sister?

Answer: Charlotte Jordan

Charlotte was a television reporter, and she helped Sarah locate Nick in Russia at the end of the movie, by using her connections.
3. Charlotte: 'I couldn't get a cab... God's punishment.' Sarah: 'You don't believe in God.' What was Charlotte's response to this?

Answer: "I know"

When Charlotte came to the party that Sarah and Henry, her new husband were at in the beginning of the movie, Charlotte was soaking wet, and late.
4. What fruit was thrown at Nick and Jo Jo to mock them, when Nick was trying to tell people about the horrible situation in Ethiopia?

Answer: Banana

Nick was trying to explain to the crowd of people that he needed more funding for his refugee camp in Ethiopia. In the middle of his speech, someone from the audience threw a banana into the middle of the room. The people in the crowd (with the exception of Sarah and Charlotte) began to laugh. Nick slowly picked up the banana, peeled it and handed it to Jo Jo to eat. Nick said, 'Three hundred calories... more than he gets in a day.' Then the crowd became silent.
5. Finish the quote said by Charlotte: 'You married a very _____ Englishman.'

Answer: English

When Sarah and Charlotte are in the bathroom cleaning Charlotte up a little bit (she was soaked because she couldn't find a cab to get to the party), Charlotte makes this comment about Henry, Sarah's husband.
6. Which item did Charlotte NOT mention she was going to send Sarah in a 'care package from home' (the United States)?

Answer: Baseball Cap

Charlotte says "I'll make sure to send you a care package from home. Some Kraft Dinner, some home-made apple pie, and a good old pair of sneakers. I'm sure that'll go over well here in fashionable London...' Charlotte said this to Sarah before she left London to go back to the US.
7. How long had Ethiopia gone without rain when Sarah arrived?

Answer: 3 years

For the most part, the people of Ethiopia had no water, except for what was given out to them in the camps set up around the country. The reason for this was the lack of rainfall in the desert area they lived in. Tula explained this to Sarah on their truck ride to the camp that Tula and Nick worked at.

This was the camp that Sarah had donated all her savings to, after Nick's speech in London.
8. Tula: 'No men in my village want woman over 18.' Sarah: 'In my tribe, it's __.'

Answer: 30

Sarah asks Tula if she is married, and Tula says many men had asked her, but she wanted to drive the truck and 'Lazy men, good for nothing.' She also said that it was too late now anyway, because she was not young enough anymore.
9. Who played the character of Elliot Hauser?

Answer: Noah Emmerich

Elliot Hauser was the person who founded the organization that he, Nick, Kat, Tula and a number of others are a part of.
10. What did the wounded woman who Sarah rescued from the side of the road call Nick while he was operating on her?

Answer: 'He who steals from death'

The woman ends up dying, despite the efforts to save her life, but her son, who Sarah rescued, was able to be revived.
