Luigi and Guido were close friends in the movie and each had their own ambitions. Although Guido was also a Ferrari fan, his ambition was to perform as the pit crew for a race car. His dreams came true in the tie-breaker race, when he serviced Lightning McQueen's car during a pit stop. Luigi's dreams also came true when some Ferraris, sent by Lightning McQueen, came into Luigi's shop to purchase new tires.

Additional info: Originally, Lightning McQueen was given number 57, the birth year of director John Lasseter. It was changed to 95 in reference to the year "Toy Story" was released.

Lightning pulled Stanley, a metal statue, off of its pedestal and dragged it over the road when running away from the Sheriff. He destroyed the road and was sentenced, by Doc Hudson, to repave it.

Lightning McQueen said this a few times during the movie. In the final race, Doc started the quote and allowed Lightning to finish it, as a reminder to Lightning that he could win the race.

Mater volunteered to represent Lightning McQueen when he was tried before the judge for destroying the road. Mater never spoke a word in Lightning McQueen's defense but after Sally convinced the judge to punish Lightning by forcing him to pave the road, Mater says, "By the way, you owe me $32,000 in legal fees".

The character Mater became just as popular as Lightning McQueen. The movie "Cars" was initially titled "Route 66". It was changed to "Cars" to avoid any mix up between the movie and the television show "Route 66".

Answer: Lightning killed his flowers

When Lightning McQueen first tore through Radiator Springs, dragging Stanley the Statue behind him and ruining the road, he destroyed Red's flowers in the process. Later, when Lightning McQueen insulted Radiator Springs, Red drove away crying. When Lightning asked why Red was so upset, Mater explained that Red hated him for killing his flowers.

Red, like the rest of the residents of Radiator Springs, learned to love Lightning. He even cried and drove away when they all believed that Lightning left town without saying goodbye.

Lightning insisted that Mack drive all night, in the hopes of arriving in California before Chick Hicks. Mack protested because he was so tired, but Lightning promised to stay awake with him to make it easier. Lightning fell asleep first so Mack started to doze off. When he fell asleep, he was jolted awake by Snot Rod, and Lightning fell out of the back of the truck.

After Lightning awoke in the middle of the road and realized Mack had continued on to California without him, he began frantically searching for Mack on the interstate. He saw a tractor trailer on the road coming from the interstate and chased it, thinking it was Mack. Of course, Mack was long gone by then.

Answer: He thought Sheriff was shooting at him.

On his way back to the interstate, Lightning sped by Sheriff, hoping to catch Mack. Sheriff started after him but began to backfire as he hadn't had to drive so fast in a while. Lightning mistook the backfires for gunshots and believed Sheriff was shooting at him.

As a result, he destroyed the road, was sentenced to repair it...and the rest is Radiator Springs history. Way to go on a job well done. Great race!
