Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who wrote the screenplay for the movie?

Answer: William Goldman and Lawrence Kasdan

Director Larry Kasdan co-wrote the screenplay with William Goldman. Kasdan also wrote "The Big Chill" and "The Bodyguard". Goldman adapted two other King novels for the big screen, "Misery" and "Hearts in Atlantis".
2. Where was the movie filmed?

Answer: Canada

It was filmed in Prince George and Vancouver, British Columbia.
3. What is the name of Henry's patient at the beginning of the movie?

Answer: Barry

C. Ernst Harth played Barry Neiman. Henry is able to know the details of Barry's life somehow and begins to reveal things Barry never told him. Harth has had some guest spots on science fiction series such as "The X-Files", "The Outer Limits", and "Harsh Realm".
4. After Henry humiliates his patient he puts a gun to his head. Before he can pull the trigger, the phone rings and Henry already knows who it is. Which of his friends was calling?

Answer: Jonesy

After Barry gets upset and leaves Henry's office, Henry is ashamed of what he did. He takes out a gun and places it to his head. Jonesy calls to ask if Henry wants to go see their old friend Duddits that weekend. The gun did fire in that scene, as Henry accidentally shoots his diploma hanging on the wall.
5. Who is the first person to die in the movie?

Answer: Jonesy

Jonesy walks out into traffic and is hit by a car. We do not know until near the end of the movie, but Jonesy did die in that accident. His heart stopped twice. That makes him the first person to die in the movie, but Rick McCarthy is the first person we see die as a result of the alien. Eric Keenleyside played Rick.
6. Which of these is Beaver's nervous tick?

Answer: Chewing toothpicks

We first see Beaver sitting at a bar, drinking beer. He takes out his toothpicks and begins chewing on one. We see him do this all the way up to the point it kills him. Then he goes out to a pay phone and calls Jonesy, warning him to be careful of an unknown event. Just after that call, Jonesy walks into oncoming traffic and he is severely injured, dying briefly. In the scene where Beaver has the alien trapped inside the toilet, it is his intense need for a toothpick that causes him to move off of the toilet just enough for the alien to send him flying.

The creature comes out of the toilet and bites off some of his fingers on his right hand, and then finally kills him.
7. What is Jonesy's wife's name?

Answer: Carla

Beaver mentions her name when he calls Jonesy to warn him of danger. Jonesy sees Duddits across the street from where he is standing, and walks into traffic toward the Liberty Pawn. While he is dying in the ambulance he sees Duddits again and Duddits warns him about Mr. Gray.
8. After Mr. Gray gets Jonesys' body, where does Jonesy stay?

Answer: Memory Warehouse

The memory warehouse holds all of your memories and Jonesy is able to stay alive inside his, while the alien has hold of his body. Jonesy says that Duddits has his own special place on the third floor of his memory warehouse.
9. The young boys find young Duddits' lunch box right before they see him being tormented by older boys. What is the theme of the lunchbox?

Answer: Scooby Doo

They also find Duddits' shirt. After they save him from the older boys, they dress him and take him home. Beaver had to sing a song to calm Duddits down. Duddits' real name is Douglas, but when he says it himself it sounds like Duddits, so that is what they always called him.
10. What song does young Beaver sing to young Duddits to calm him after he was tormented by mean older boys?

Answer: Blue Bayou

Beaver makes the other boys swear never to tell anyone he did it, but the song calmed Duddits immediately and they'd made a special friend for life.
11. What caused Henry to wreck his vehicle?

Answer: A woman sitting in the truck's path.

The truck flipped and landed on its roof. Pete thought his leg was broken at first, but it turned out not to be. The woman was infected with the alien and she had been with Rick McCarthy at some point prior to this event.
12. Which of these foods do we see Beaver eating with his finger?

Answer: Peanut Butter

Jonesy mentions that someone else may want to eat peanut butter, and Beaver says he'll leave some in the jar. He missed the point of not sticking his finger right into the peanut butter.
13. After their accident, how far did Henry say his walk to 'Hole In The Wall' would be?

Answer: 9 miles

He had Pete stay behind with infected woman, and he would walk back to the cabin and get the snowmobile. Pete said if they died before Henry got back, to promise to tell every one she was not his date. She was intensely bloated with the alien, as Rick had been when Jonesy found him.
14. What is the name of the corporeal that Colonel Curtis shoots the fingers off of for disobedience?

Answer: Maples

Darrin Klimek played poor Maples! He crossed the "Curtis Line" by lying to the colonel about the infected mom he allowed through. He was not supposed to allow anyone outside of the encampment.
15. What is the name of the missing young girl that the boys help young Duddits find?

Answer: Josie Rinkenhauer

Shauna Kain, who played Josie, was also in the mini-series "Taken" and in the movie "X2".
