'Rio Bravo' was made in 1959 and was written by Jules Furthman and Leigh Bracket. This movie was a western that co-starred Dean Martin and Angie Dickinson. John Wayne played Sheriff John T. Chance, who arrested a murderer and threw him in jail. The Sheriff had to fight a powerful rancher, who wanted to break his brother out of jail. Tension occurred when a mysterious woman came into town, who promptly fell in love with the Sheriff.

'The Alamo' was a movie made in 1960, which was written by James Edward Grant and directed by John Wayne himself. The movie was set in 1836 during the Battle of the Alamo and co-starred Richard Widmark as Jim Bowie. John Wayne was Davy Crockett, the leader of a small band of soldiers who tried to fight off a Mexican army.

The army's leader, General Santa Anna, was trying to ruin the new Republic of Texas, but was being held back by the small band of family men, who wanted freedom at any cost.

'North To Alaska' was made in 1960 and was written by John Lee Mahin, Wendell Mayes and Martin Rackin. It was a western comedy that co-starred Stewart Granger, Fabian, Capucine and Ernie Kovacs. After striking gold in Alaska, George Pratt sent his partner Sam McCord to Seattle, to bring back his girlfriend.

Unfortunately, she had already married someone else, so Sam brought back another woman. George rejected this strange woman, who didn't mind because she had already fallen in love with Sam. Trouble started when Frankie Canon tried to steal George and Sam's gold claim.

'How The West Was Won' was made in 1962 and was written by James R. Webb. This movie was an epic western that co-starred Carroll Baker, Lee J.Cobb and Henry Fonda. The movie followed several generations of the Prescott family who emigrated from New York State to the Pacific Ocean. During their journey, they encountered Indians and river pirates, who were only too eager to steal their belongings.

Their journey also involved the Civil War and the new railroad that was being constructed in Indian territory.

They travelled by wagon train and fortunes were made and lost as they passed through California.

'Donovan's Reef' was made in 1963 and co-starred Lee Marvin and Cesar Romero. This romantic comedy was written by Edmund Beloin and James Edward Grant. A group of war verterans settled on a south Pacific Island paradise and were quite happy carousing about the place and having a good time. Problems occurred when one of the veteran's daughter arrived and disrupted the status quo between the boys.

Cole Thornton was a gunfighter, who was hired by his old friend Sheriff J.P. Hara, to help a rancher fight off a water stealing neighbour.

'The Green Berets' was made in 1968 and was written by James Lee Barret and Col. Kenneth B.Facey. This movie was an action drama that was set in the Vietnam war and co-starred David Janssen and Jim Hutton. The movie was based on a 1965 book which was written by Robin Moore.

The story was about Mike Kirby, who had to select two teams of Green Berets to go on a mission in South Vietnam. Their mission was to build and control a camp, so that they could kidnap a North Vietnamese General.

'True Grit' is a 1969 movie that was written by Marguerite Roberts and was based on a novel by Charles Portis. It was a western/adventure drama that co-starred Glen Campbell and Robert Duvall. A U.S. Marshal and a Texas Ranger were asked to help a young woman find her father's murderer. John Wayne played Rooster Cogburn, who had a hard time with this stubborn young woman, as well as with the Indians who owned the territory that they had entered.

He had been very worried because Lawrence Murphy had been trying to take over the local stores, bank and land, by questionable means. Chism and another ranch owner tried to use the law to stop Murphy from his quest to own the town, but unfortunately Murphy also owned the law too.

'The Train Robbers' was a 1973 movie that was written and directed by Burt Kennedy. It was a western comedy that co-starred Ann-Margret and Ricardo Montalban. A gunhand called Lane, was hired by a widow to find and return gold that was stolen from a train. Her quest was to find the gold that her late husband had stolen and clear her son's name in the process.
