Scar killed Simba's dad so Simba banished Scar's family from the Pridelands. Kovu was an heir of Scar and the chosen king of the Pridelands. He wasn't heir to the throne, so he was sent by his mother to kill Simba so he could be king.

Answer: 'Bye!'

They don't understand why their parents hate each other. It's basically a Romeo-and-Juliet type situation. Two people fall in love, but because they come from different families, they're not allowed to see each other. That's what it's like for Kovu and Kiara.

She explained this to Simba, who realized she was right. The other pride switched sides, joining Simba's pride. Kovu's mother refused to surrender, however, and fell to her death.
