Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This 1979 movie starred Nick Mancuso and David Warner as a tribal Law Enforcement Oficer and a professional vampire bat killer trying to rid the Reservation of an infestation of vampire bats.

Answer: Nightwing

I liked the novel 'Nightwing' so much that I just had to watch the movie. I liked the movie but thought the book was better.
2. This truly horrifying low-budget zombiefest endures today as a real cult classic. It was made in 1968 and was this director's first movie.

Answer: Night Of The Living Dead

It is just as good today as when George Romero made it in 1968. He couldn't afford to film it in color, but the black and white worked out great, didn't it? My favorite horror movie.
3. Spend the night on this street only At Your Own Risk! (Better not fall asleep)! You might have bad dreams!

Answer: A Nightmare On Elm Street

This movie starred Robert Englund as Freddy, the nightmare Boogieman who terrorized teens in their sleep. A very scary flick.
4. Charlie Brewster knows his neighbor is a real-life vampire. Can Peter Vincent help him before it is too late to save Amy? This movie stars Roddy McDowall.

Answer: Fright Night

"Fright Night" (1985) starred Chris Sarandon as the suave vampire Jerry Danridge, William Ragsdale as Charlie Brewster, and Roddy McDowall as Peter Vincent. Written and directed by Tom Holland, this was a really fun spook movie, and I still watch it every now and then! Roddy McDowall is wonderful as Peter Vincent. Sadly, the talents of Ragsdale and McDowall were pretty much wasted on the vastly inferior sequel "Fright Night Part II" (1989).
5. This movie tells the story of two children running away from a murdering, and marrying self-styled 'preacher' who never seems to stop chasing them. It starred Robert Mitchum in one of his best roles and was made in 1955.

Answer: Night of the Hunter

"The Night of the Hunter" (1955) starred Robert Mitchum as Harry Powell, and this was the only movie directed by actor Charles Laughton. While it was not a big success when first released, it is now considered a classic of suspense. This was one of Robert Mitchum's finest performances, and I hope that you have had the opportunity to watch it.

The screenplay was by Davis Grubb and James Agee from Grubb's novel of the same name. "Night of the Hunter" was remade for television in 1991 with Richard Chamberlain playing the part of Harry Powell.
6. Kolchak, a newspaper reporter, is hot on the trail of a vampire in this 1972 highly rated made for tv movie.

Answer: The Night Stalker

"The Night Stalker" starred Darren McGavin. This movie was so popular that it not only spawned another television movie, "The Night Strangler" (1973), but Kolchak's further adventures with the weird were related on the television series, "The Night Stalker" which orginally aired in 1974-1975.
7. This is a really campy spook movie about a couple of Valley Girls who are just about all that is left of humanity to rebuild civilization as we know it. It was made in 1984 and stars Catherine Mary Stewart.

Answer: Night Of The Comet

This movie also starred Kelli Maroney and Robert Beltrane. I enoyed it because of its silliness. It was released in 1984.
8. Ewan McGregor does an excellent job in this 1997 movie about a security guard in a morgue. When the bodies of prostitutes begin turning up, he becomes a suspect in these very gory murders.

Answer: Nightwatch

Of course, all of us who are 'Star Wars' fans know that McGregor is the young Obi-Wan Kenobi!
9. This excellent 1981 made for television movie tells about how the spirit of a gentle, child-like man comes back seeking revenge on the vigilantes who murdered him. (Think of what shoos crows out of a corn field.) Charles Durning stars.

Answer: Dark Night Of The Scarecrow

This, and 'The Night Stalker', are two of the best made for television movies I have ever seen. The story of a child-like man who is wrongly accused of harming the little girl that befriends him, this very scary little movie starred Charles Durning, Robert F. Lyons, and Larry Darke. It was released in 1981.
10. This was the second movie spawned from the 1960's gothic supernatural 'soap' about the Collins family, their friends, werewolves, vampires etc. It starred David Selby and Grayson Hall.(The name of the 'soap' is also in the movie title).

Answer: Night of Dark Shadows

The first movie, 'House Of Dark Shadows' was much the better of the two by far. But I am a big 'Dark Shadows' fan so I probably take it all too seriously, anyway! I hope you enjoyed my quiz.
