One Night with the King Trivia Quiz

Answer: Susa, Persia

After the prologue, it states that the palace is in Susa, Persia. Susa is the capital of the new world and many caravans come through on their trading routes.

Answer: Her uncle, Mordecai

After the brutal murder of Hadassah's parents, she went and stayed with her uncle, Mordecai. He raised her as if she was his own and in the tradition of the Jews.

The caravan Hadassah is most interested in is the one from Jerusalem - which comes once a year. For a couple of years, Mordecai has fended Hadassah off by stating "Go ask if they will arrive the same time next year."

Hadassah's parents said, "Like you, its true treasure is etched within." Then when Hamam approaches her in the library with a torch, the stars appear, though he cannot see them. Again at the end, Hadassah uses her necklace as proof of her testament before the King, her husband.

Vashti is in the King's chamber when she tells him that she would have him stay, to enhance his kingdom and preserve his throne. She is afraid because he is not a warrior or soldier.

The King asks Memecan what dictates the protocol. Memecan states, "A royal edict must be issued and written into the rolls of the land. That Vashti come no more before the King, but that her royal position be given to a new queen..."

Answer: Babylonian

When the edict is sent out that all maidens in the land are to be considered as a candidate. Mordecai takes precautions in case Hadassah is taken. He states that the name Hadassah is too Jewish and therefore, if she is taken she will use the name Esther because it is a good Babylonian name. "Esther of Susa."

Answer: Hagai

When all the candidates are huddled together in fear, Hadassah attempts to calm them with lures of fine linens. Hagai introduces himself from the top of a flight of stairs.

This is my favorite part of the movie.
He tells her, "Suppose, my lady, a man offered you a more treasured gift, say, a kingdom."
Crying, Esther replies, "The only gift I would accept is your heart."
"Then it is yours. And you did not serve seven years to get it." Oh my! That is so romantic!

Answer: Death

Death is the only punishment for going before the King unsummoned. Hagai states this when he first brings Esther to read for the King. Again, it is stated when Jesse tells Esther she has to go before him to save the Jews.
