Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the 1972 movie "Last House On The Left", Mari and her friend Phyllis were on their way to a concert to celebrate Mari's 17th birthday, when three escaped convicts kidnapped and tortured them. What concert were they going to see?

Answer: Bloodlust

"Last House On The Left" was written and directed by Wes Craven. The movie was very powerful, and almost realistic. The girls were drugged and beaten, stuffed into a truck and driven into the woods for more terror.
2. In this 1981 movie, five miners died in a mine due to an accident. The accident happened because the supervisors left their post to attend a dance. The only survivor, Harry Warden was put in a mental hospital. Twenty years later he came back for revenge. What movie was it?

Answer: My Bloody Valentine

"My Bloody Valentine" was about Harry Warden, the survivor of a mine accident seeking revenge. He returned to the town one year after and was caught and locked back up. Nineteen years later it was a distant memory to the town, until he returned on Valentine's Day. The first sign he was back was a box of candy covered in blood.
3. The 1985 movie "Demons" took place in the Metropol Cinema. The film shown was an invitation only horror film. The first person to become a demon was a young woman. How did she become possessed?

Answer: She was scratched in the face by a mask.

They were in lock down at the cinema. The young woman tried on a mask hanging in the lobby. The mask scratched her cheek as she pulled it off. The horror movie that was playing in the cinema had the same mask, with a girl who got the same scratch on her face.
"Demons" is one of my favorite types of movie.
4. In Steven King's "The Night Flier", Richard Dees worked for a magazine company. The magazine told stories of both fact and fiction. What was the name of the magazine?

Answer: Inside View

"The Night Flier" was about two reporters trying to track down the night flier. It was a dark winged creature. The night flier traveled in a black plane to secluded airports at night. He would then brutally kill people working night shifts.
5. One hundred plus years after a group soldiers slaughtered most of the town's people during the Civil War, six friends on vacation were made the guests of honor in the town's celebration. What movie was it?

Answer: Two Thousand Maniacs

The 1964 "Two Thousand Maniacs" had four graphic gore scenes. My favorite was the barrel lined with nails. When the law went to the town where the survivors claimed their friends were killed, the town was gone.

The 2005 film "2001 Maniacs" had a similar plot.
6. In the 1981 movie "Hell Night", four people of sorority and franternity pledges were required to spend the night in a spooky mansion. What was the name of the mansion?

Answer: Garth Manor

Garth Manor was the home of a multiple murderer. The owner took the lives of his wife, and four deformed children. He then took his own life. It was believed the fourth child was still roaming through the mansion.
7. Victor Pascow, (played by Brad Greenquist) was a ghost in the 1989 movie "Pet Sematary". He had a gory wound on the side of his head. How did he get that wound on his head?

Answer: He was in an automobile accident.

Victor Pascow was an unforgetable charactor in "Pet Sematary". He was a ghost. He was there to help warn Louis of the land beyond the pet sematary.
8. In the 2006 remake of "The Omen", photographer Keith Jennings was decapitated by a iron sign hanging on a building. How was Keith decapitated in the 1976 original?

Answer: A sheet of glass

In the 1976 "The Omen" Keith Jennings was the photographer who helped Robert Thorn find information on his son Damien. They were in the Holy Land in Israel, when a sheet of glass decapitated Keith. It was done in slow motion. This is one of my favorite horror movies of all time. I must also give mention to Jerry Goldsmith's unforgettable Oscar winning music score.
9. In "Friday the 13th" Jason Voorhees' mother was the true killer. What was Mrs. Voorhees first name?

Answer: Pamela

In "Friday the 13th" Pamela Voorhees was the killer. She was out to avenge her son Jason Voorhees' death due to drowning. The movie did not reveal her as the killer until the end.
10. In the movie "The Shining" there were two girls Danny would see in the hall. These two sisters were victims of murder at their father's hand. Jack Torrance talked to this man in a few scenes. What was his last name?

Answer: Grady

Jack first met this man in the bathroom in the ballroom, when Grady was helping Jack clean up a spill. This was a very important part of the movie. It explained where Jack came up with the idea to kill his family.
