Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. At the beginning of the movie, Prince Caspian is roused from his bed by his professor, Doctor Cornelius, and told to flee. What event forces him to run for his life?

Answer: His uncle's wife has given birth to a boy.

Prince Caspian is the rightful heir to the throne, which is empty due to the death of Caspian's father. His uncle, Miraz, leads the council that is running the country, while waiting for Prince Caspian to take the throne, but really wants to be king himself. Once his son is born and he has an heir, he orders his soldiers to kill the Prince.
Prince Caspian and Doctor Cornelius flee through a secret passageway in the wardrobe (a reference to the first "Narnia" movie), pausing long enough to watch the soldiers unleash a volley of arrows into the bed where they think he is sleeping.
2. How are the Pevensie children summoned to Narnia?

Answer: with Susan's old horn

As Price Caspian flees the castle, Doctor Cornelius gives him Susan's old horn, which he says has taken him a long time to find. He instructs Caspian to only blow the horn when he is in dire trouble, as it will guarantee that help will arrive. This is the horn that Father Christmas gave to Susan in "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe", with the same instructions. When he is fleeing from the soldiers, Caspian falls and comes face to face with some Narnians, whom the Telmarines had believed to be extinct.

He frantically blows the horn which causes the Pevensies to be summoned to Narnia. His blowing of the horn also gives hope to the Narnians, who allow the Prince to live while they await the return of the true kings and queens.
3. Where do Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy find their Narnian clothes and weapons?

Answer: in chests, in the ruins of Cair Paravel

When they arrive back in their beloved Narnia, they splash in the waters off the beach in sheer joy. The ruins of an old castle are noticed up on the top of the cliff so they go to explore, not remembering any ruins from before. They find that the ruins are all that's left of their previous home, Cair Paravel, which makes them realize that all is not good in Narnia.

Inside what is left of the castle, they find chests with their old clothing and weapons inside.
4. Who is the first, in this movie, to see Aslan?

Answer: Lucy

Aslan has not been seen in Narnia since the Pevensie children inadvertently wandered back through the wardrobe, hundreds of years before, but his legend lives on.
When the party, led by Peter, are trying to find their way down the gorge to the river, to get across, Lucy excitedly points and says that she sees Aslan over by the ravine's edge. She thinks he wants them to go that way. Since no one else has seen the lion, they follow Peter to a place to ford, only to find that the Telmarines are there in force, building a bridge.
So they return to the spot where Lucy saw Aslan and, when she explores it, she finds a path down the cliff that allows them to cross the river more easily. Aslan also comes to her in a dream and she is the one to eventually seek him out and bring him back.
5. Together, with Prince Caspian and the remaining Narnians, the children are taken to a stone fortress, that will serve as their basis of operation. What do they find at the heart of the fortress?

Answer: the broken Stone Table

The Stone Table was the one on which the White Witch sacrificed Aslan in "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe", after first having his mane shorn. Aslan offered himself up as a substitute for Edmund, whose treachery made his blood forfeit to the Witch, by the laws of the Ancient Magic. Because Aslan was free of guilt and had willingly offered himself up in sacrifice, his life (and mane) were restored.

The Table cracked when Aslan returned to life. In the years between when the children returned to England and when the Telmarines drove them into hiding, the Narnians had obviously enclosed the Stone Table, as somewhere special.
6. Counting on the element of surprise, Peter chooses to lead his army in an attack on the Telmarines castle, rather then sit and wait to be attacked. Edmund goes first, to provide a signal to the waiting Narnians. How does he provide these signals?

Answer: with his battery powered flashlight (torch) from England

Edmund is dropped, by what appears to be a gryphon, onto one of the turrets from the castle. He then signals, first the others, who are also dropped by gryphons, when it's safe to come and lower the drawbridge, and then the troops themselves, when it's time to storm the castle.

This last signal almost doesn't get sent because the torch becomes faulty after Edmund has to hit a soldier with it. The flashlight (or torch as it's known in some parts of the world) first makes an appearance when they are exploring the ruins of Cair Paravel. Peter cuts off a piece of his shirt and wraps it around two sticks.

He then asks Edmund if he has a match, so he can light it. Edmund doesn't have a match, but does have his flashlight in his school bag.
7. King Caspian, Prince Caspian's father, died of natural causes.

Answer: False

When Caspian is in the castle, he finds Doctor Cornelius in the dungeon. The Doctor essentially tell him that his uncle, Miraz, killed his father, so Caspian goes to confront him in his bed. Miraz basically admits this, surprising his wife who says that he'd told her that King Caspian died in his sleep. Miraz smiles and says that this is more or less true.

This confrontation delays the raising of the gate, which Peter feels is the reason why they have to retreat and so many Narnians are killed. Miraz uses the attack on the castle to have Caspian declared a traitor, and himself made king.
8. Driven by the defeat at the Telmarines castle, one of the Narnians takes Prince Caspian to where the Stone Table is, to try and summon the White Witch from the dead. Her old spear is used to create a wall of ice in which she appears. What does she say is all that is needed to complete her return?

Answer: a drop of Adam's blood

By "drop of Adam's blood", the White Witch means a drop of blood from any son of Adam, the expression by which all human males had been known in "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe". The Narnian who lures Prince Caspian along with promises of assistance is a dwarf, and the dwarfs fought on the White Witch's side in the big battle at the end of "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe".

The Witch's power is such that Caspian is convinced, and struggles to reach his bleeding hand to her outstretched one, when Peter stops him. Even Peter starts to fall under her spell when Edmund, well aware of the Witch's duplicity, shatters the wall of ice and breaks the spell.
9. Peter sends Lucy on a secret mission, with only Susan to protect her. They are spotted by soldiers and Susan sends Lucy on while she stops to fight the soldiers. She kills all but one of them, who gets the better of her. Who saves Susan from the last soldier?

Answer: Caspian

Caspian rides up behind the soldier, and swiftly dispatches him. Before she and Lucy left the stronghold, Caspian offered her the return of her horn, but she told him to keep it. After he kills the one soldier she could not dispatch, they joke about how she should have taken the horn after all. The attraction between Susan and Caspian really starts to build after this point.
10. Who kills King Miraz?

Answer: Lord Sopespian

In order to give Lucy time to complete her mission and save as many Narnian lives as possible, Peter challenges King Miraz to one on one combat, winner take all (so to speak). Ever treacherous, Miraz orders his general to kill Peter if it looks like he will win. Peter does indeed defeat Miraz, but does not kill him, leaving that honour to Prince Caspian. Caspian does not kill Miraz, but orders him to leave his kingdom instead.

As Miraz is walking away, Lord Sopespian kills him with one of Susan's arrows and then screams "Treachery", thus starting the battle between the sorely outnumbered Narnians and the Telmarines army.
11. Although they fight valiantly, the Narnian army has little chance against the sheer numbers of the Telmarines. What turns the battle in their favour?

Answer: The trees start fighting for them.

Lucy's mission is to seek out Aslan, which she does, while being pursued by a couple of soldiers, whom Aslan dispatches. After a conversation with Lucy about believing, Aslan says that their friends have been "sleeping for long enough" and wakes the trees with a roar.

The trees begin fighting the Telmarine army, sending roots out to destroy the catapults, when one of their number is felled by one. The Telmarines retreat to the bridge, where they meet with a physical embodiment of the river, that kills Lord Sopespian and ends the battle.
12. Who have the Telmarines descended from?

Answer: pirates

Aslan explains how the Telmarine ancestors were pirates who had found a portal through to Narnia on an island. The Telmarine have been there for so many hundreds of years (in Narnian time) that they do not remember this.
After Caspian, newly proclaimed king by Aslan, announces his intentions to peacefully co-exist with Narnians, Aslan offers those Telmarines who wish to leave, safe passage out of Narnia. Miraz's wife and son are among the first to accept the offer.
13. Reepicheep, king of the mice, is a formidable opponent and great help to our friends at all times. Seriously wounded in the battle, Reepicheep is saved from death by Lucy's potion. What happens to his tail, lost in battle?

Answer: Aslan restores it.

After being restored by Lucy's healing potion, Reepicheep attempts to bow and pay homage to Aslan. Without a tail, his balance is thrown off and he stumbles as if drunk. Embarrassed without a tail, he asks Lucy to give him a second drop of healing to restore the tail, but Lucy says that she doesn't think it works that way.

When his subjects offer to cut off their own tails in deference to their king, Aslan restores Reepicheep's tail.
14. Who, among the four Pevensie children, will never be returning to Narnia?

Answer: Susan and Peter

After the first Telmarines go through the portal back into our world, some express suspicion that they are just being sent to die. The Pevensie children offer to go through the portal to prove that it is safe. They then announce that Susan and Peter will never be returning to Narnia, because they have learned all that they could learn there. (This is said after Peter and Susan are seen in deep conversation with Aslan.) Susan then kisses Caspian and says that it would never have worked anyway because she is something like 1,300 years older than him.
15. Where do Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy return to?

Answer: the subway station

At the beginning of the movie, they are standing in a London subway station, waiting for a train. It is obviously still during the war, and they discuss the fact that it has been a year since they first returned from Narnia and are anxious to go back.

When they hear the horn being blown, they join hands and the train passes them, opening up to a beach in Narnia. After they step through the portal that Aslan opens, they end up standing on the same platform, with the same teenager who had tried to flirt with Susan earlier.

They get on the train and get on with their lives.
