Doug Dorsey was the first person shown at the start of the movie. The movie starts off when his alarm clock went off, and he accidentally overslept prior to his hockey game in the Olympics against West Germany.

Her name was Gita. She was a German woman who was with Doug Dorsey at the start of movie who got upset at Doug because he couldn't remember her name.
